Organizational Setting and Work Relationships
The Driver in the UNHCR Office is normally supervised directly by the Administrative Officer/Associate/Assistant or another staff member when the scale of the Operation so require it. Besides driving the incumbent is responsible for up keep and maintenance of the assigned UNHCR vehicle(s) as per technical guidance and specifications established by the Organisation. S/he is required to follow strict instructions and security guidance provided by the supervisor. While the basic function of a driver is to drive the official vehicles of UNHCR s/he may be called upon to perform minor maintenance and repair of UNHCR vehicles.

The Driver has regular contacts with staff within the UNHCR Office and with others (including Partners government authorities etc.) outside UNHCR involving a limited exchange of information.

All UNHCR staff members are accountable to perform their duties as reflected in their job description. They do so within their delegated authorities in line with the regulatory framework of UNHCR which includes the UN Charter UN Staff Regulations and Rules UNHCR Policies and Administrative Instructions as well as relevant accountability addition staff members are required to discharge their responsibilities in a manner consistent with the core functional cross-functional and managerial competencies and UNHCRs core values of professionalism integrity and respect for diversity.

Duties
- Drive UNHCR vehicles for the transport of authorized passengers deliver and collect documents and other items.
- Meet official personnel at airports or other locations and facilitate immigration and customs formalities as required.
- Perform day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicles; check oil water battery brakes tires etc. and ensure that the assigned UNHCR vehicles are road or waterway worthy and maintained up to the established security standards.
- Perform minor repairs arrange for other repairs and ensure that the vehicle is kept clean.
- Ensure that the steps required by rules and regulations or other local procedures are taken in case of involvement in an accident.
- Log official trips daily mileage gas consumption oil changes greasing etc.
- Ensure that instructions and security guidance provided by the supervisor and security focal point are strictly followed.
- Ensures valid documentation for passengers items or cargo in vehicle.

- Support the identification and management of risks and seek to seize opportunities impacting objectives in the area of responsibility. Ensure decision making in risk based in the functional area of work. Raise risks issues and concerns to a supervisor or to relevant functional colleague(s).
- Perform other related duties as required.

The driver will be responsible of organizing the routes for missions and events in Tacna border areas. Thus proven experience and good knowledge of the Tacna region and main national routes especially the most frequently used ones within the areas of responsibility of the Office (Moquegua Arequipa Puno among others as needed) is required.
The strategy for this position includes the transport of a mobile unit for protection work. Therefore possession of a valid A III-C category drivers license with proven experience of at least three years driving vehicles corresponding to that category is required.
Work experience as a driver for an international organization public entity or private company with a minimum of three years.
Knowledge of basic automotive mechanics and preventive maintenance.
Basic skills and knowledge in using computer programs (Microsoft Office: Word Excel among others).
Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality especially when transporting personnel from humanitarian or sensitive organizations.
Knowledge of basic road safety regulations and first aid.
Good interpersonal skills and effective communication abilities with the capacity to interact respectfully with colleagues local authorities and visitors.
Basic knowledge of English (minimum level A2).

Please note that this position will be located at Tacna Peru on presential modality and is offered as a Temporary Appointment. It will last three months extension is subject to operational needs budget medical clearance and performance. Spanish is essential for this position. Selected candidate might need to undergo medical examination with a certified medic to determine medical suitability for the position.

Por lo tanto se requiere experiencia comprobada y buen conocimiento de la regin de Tacna y de las principales rutas nacionales especialmente aquellas ms frecuentemente utilizadas dentro de las reas de responsabilidad de la Oficina (Moquegua Arequipa Puno entre otras segn se requiera).
La estrategia para esta posicin incluye el transporte de una unidad mvil para trabajo de proteccin. Por ello se requiere contar con una licencia de conducir categora A III-C vigente con experiencia comprobada de al menos tres aos conduciendo vehculos correspondientes a dicha categora.
Experiencia laboral como conductor para una organizacin internacional pblica o empresa privada con un mnimo de tres aos.
Conocimientos de mecnica automotriz bsica y mantenimiento preventivo.
Habilidades y conocimientos bsicos en el uso de programas informticos (Microsoft Office: Word Excel entre otros).
Capacidad para mantener la discrecin y confidencialidad especialmente al transportar personal de organizaciones humanitarias o sensibles.
Conocimiento de normas bsicas de seguridad vial y primeros auxilios.
Buenas habilidades interpersonales y de comunicacin efectiva con capacidad para interactuar respetuosamente con colegas autoridades locales y visitantes.
Conocimientos bsicos de ingls (nivel mnimo A2).

Tendr una duracin de tres meses y su extensin estar sujeta a necesidades operativas presupuesto aprobacin mdica y desempeo. El dominio del espaol es esencial para este puesto. La persona seleccionada podra necesitar someterse a un examen mdico con un profesional certificado para determinar su idoneidad mdica para el cargo.
