DATTCO has an opening for an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Compliance Specialist. The EHS Compliance Specialist will be the in-house expert responsible for overseeing environmental permitting regulatory compliance and occupational health & safety programs across DATTCOs facilities. This individual must be licensed in Connecticut to provide environmental services and will ensure compliance with CT DEEP RI DEM MA DEP EPA and OSHA regulations. The role will cover stormwater permitting hazardous materials management OSHA safety programs and multi-site compliance coordination across three states.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Prepare submit and manage stormwater discharge permits and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs) for all facilities.
- Ensure compliance with CT DEEP RI DEM and MA DEP environmental requirements as well as federal EPA regulations.
- Conduct environmental inspections at bus terminals fueling stations and maintenance facilities across all states.
- Oversee hazardous waste universal waste and recycling programs including documentation transportation and disposal.
- Maintain and update Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) plans for fueling and maintenance operations.
- Ensure compliance with air permitting requirements related to fueling operations emissions painting and vehicle maintenance activities.
- Coordinate sampling monitoring reporting and recordkeeping for multi-site environmental programs.
- Standardize compliance programs across facilities in three states.
- Develop and maintain a centralized compliance calendar and reporting system.
- Travel regularly to multiple sites to conduct inspections training and audits.
- Provide guidance and technical support to local operations and maintenance managers.
Other Responsibilities:
- Assist with compliance with OSHA standards across bus yards garages and maintenance shops.
- Participate in regular safety audits and risk assessments at facilities in Connecticut Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
- Assist with the development implementation and safety programs covering: Hazard Communication Lockout/Tagout Confined Space PPE Fleet Safety and Driver/Mechanic Safety.
- Assist with incident investigations track corrective actions and ensure regulatory reporting.
- Assist with the preparation and maintaining of OSHA-required records and support inspections.
- Provide ongoing employee safety training for drivers mechanics supervisors and operations staff.
Required Qualifications:
- Licensure in Connecticut to provide environmental services (LEP or equivalent credential).
- Bachelors degree in Environmental Science Environmental Engineering Occupational Safety or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in environmental and safety compliance preferably in transportation fleet operations or related industries.
- Strong knowledge of CT DEEP RI DEM MA DEP EPA and OSHA regulations.
- Excellent technical writing and communication skills with experience preparing permits and regulatory reports.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage compliance across multiple states and facilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with compliance tracking tools is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- OSHA 30-hour certification or equivalent.
- Experience in the transportation school bus or motor coach industry.
- Prior success in developing compliance programs across multiple locations.
