Job Description
Senior Accountant North American Region
Location: Atlanta GA
Grade: 11
Position Summary:
The Senior Accountant North American Region will report directly to the North America Accounting Senior Manager and play a key role in month-end close account reconciliations and balance sheet analytics. This position requires strong technical accounting expertise the ability to collaborate across teams and a proactive approach to process improvements and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage daily accounting operations to ensure the accuracy of the general ledger. Conduct flux and trend analyses of financial statement data on a monthly basis.
Oversee month-end close activities including the preparation of journal entries and financial reporting.
Prepare and review account reconciliations ensuring completeness and accuracy.
Work closely with onshore and offshore teams to determine the proper accounting treatment of transactions and resolve outstanding items.
Support internal and external audits as well as external reporting activities.
Evaluate SOX controls ensuring adequacy and compliance. Identify and implement improvements update process documentation and collaborate with business process owners.
Review complex and unusual transactions to ensure compliance with US GAAP and company policies.
Lead ad hoc projects and drive them to completion with minimal supervision.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance
5 years of corporate accounting experience
Strong knowledge of US GAAP accounting and reporting
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (medium to advanced level)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to research and resolve complex accounting issues
Highly motivated detail-oriented and able to manage multiple tasks in both team and independent work environments
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively across all levels of management
Ability to meet deadlines during month-end close while driving longer-term projects to completion
Preferred Qualifications:
CPA license (or progress toward certification)
Experience in a large multinational company
Familiarity with Oracle Cloud Microsoft Azure Data Lake and SmartView tools
Public accounting experience (Big 4 or other) is a plus
