Job Description

We are looking for a Physician Assistant or ARNP that has experience working with orthopedic and spine surgical patients to join our team at Universal Spine and Joint! Excellent benefits work hours and competitive pay! Local travel to the nearby practices and surgery center. Bilingual-English and Spanish speaking and writing required.

This individual will be a key member to our practice in providing exceptional spine and orthopedic care to our patients. The Nurse Practitioner or PA-C provides routine care and management of the patient with acute and chronic complaints in collaboration with the supervising physician and through implementation of standardized procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • May provide only those medical services that he/she is competent to perform which are consistent with the NPs or PA-Cs education training and experience and which are performed under the supervision of a physician who is responsible for the patients cared for by that NP or PA-C.
    Evaluates and treats patients with acute and chronic complaints related to specialty.
    Obtains complete histories and performs pertinent physical exams with assessment of normal and abnormal findings on new patient.
    Obtains interval histories and performs pertinent examinations on routine patients.
    Administers orders furnishes and prescribes medications according to written standardized procedures.
    Orders routine laboratory tests screening procedures and therapeutic procedures including blood and blood products.
    Orders physical therapy occupational therapy respiratory therapy radiology examinations and nursing services.
    Initiates arrangements for hospital admissions and discharges and completes appropriate paperwork.
    Effectively communicates and interacts with patients families staff and members of the community from diverse backgrounds.
    Recognizes situations that require the immediate attention of a physician and initiates life-saving procedures when necessary.
    Facilitates the coordination of inpatient and outpatient care and services as needed.
    Ensures compliance with legal regulatory and clinical policies and procedures.
    Participates in quality improvement initiatives.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduate of a ARNP or Physician assistant program required
  • BLS/CPR certification preferred.
  • 1-3 years work experience
  • Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer and software programs necessary to the position; troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English in person in writing and on the telephone; think critically; work independently with minimal supervision; perform basic math functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail.
  • Able to perform any other tasks as assigned.
  • English and Spanish speaking and writing.
