Job Description
The position includes an academic appointment at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Assessment/evaluation/treatment of psychiatric illnesses
Psychiatric medication evaluation and management
Ordering diagnostic tests medications and other therapies and collaboration with consultants
Timely completion of medical record documentation in accordance with hospital policies procedures regulatory standards and guidelines
Coordination and continuation of the care for patients in adherence to state and federal guidelines and discharge planning
Serving as an on-call physician when scheduled as needed
Working with and supervising advanced practice providers
Working with learners medical students PA students residents
Job Requirements
Degree from an accredited medical school
ABPN board certification or eligibility
Successful completion of accredited residency in Psychiatry
Skilled in interpersonal communication including the ability to effectively communicate with patients and families.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
