Administrative Solutions
Administrative Solutions (AS) provides management and oversight for key administrative and technical services that enables CDHS to achieve their goals. It is responsible for a number of support functions to make our agency as efficient effective and impactful as possible. Administrative Solutions comprises Human Resources; Facilities Management; Audit; Business Innovation Technology and Security; Emergency Management; Legal; Performance Management; Communications; Project Management; and Leadership & Organizational Development.

Business Innovation Technology and Security

Business Innovation Technology and Security (BITS) is responsible for managing the Departments information technology (IT) providers including relations with the Governors Office of Information Technology (OIT). The division serves as the main point of contact for departmental issues involving technology resources and needs and coordinates activities with the program staff for IT support operations maintenance modernization and implementation of new IT systems.

Summary of Position:

This position provides critical conceptual information-management and technical and analytical support through the maintenance design and enhancement of various patient and management data systems. Additionally the position develops maintains and enhances critical budget-management systems clinical information management systems ancillary analytical and audit systems the OCFMH Data Warehouse and BEHR development. The position develops legal status data quality and ad-hoc management/analysis tools for OCFMH and Mental Health Hospitals (MHH) Senior Leadership as needed. This position completes system upgrades and provides system maintenance. The position performs system analysis and design of reports inquiries and input screens as provided by the tools associated with BEHR and other software reporting applications; explores the use of new BEHR functionality for use by Institute staff; and develops and executes routine and ad hoc reporting mechanisms necessary to meet MHH business needs and requirements. The position provides technical support of BEHR-related peripherals such as barcode scanners which are used for medication administration Zebra label printers wristband printers and document scanners. The position participates in subject matter expert and user groups in order to gather and develop system specifications for modifications to BEHR.

Duties of this Position

BEHR and OCFMH System Enhancements
  • The position researches and develops BEHR system modifications and enhancements including the OCFMH Data Warehouse; designs and performs BEHR clinical and operations and data extractions; identifies analyzes and solves automated systems issues; assists with BEHR testing and upgrade installations. The position also performs end-user training for new functionality as needed. The position provides technical support of BEHR-related equipment and/or peripherals including barcode scanners which are used for medication administration Zebra label printers wristband printers and document scanners.

  • Additionally the position represents the Health Information Team (HIT) as a member of various MHH work groups and committees as they develop and define data collection requirements policies and procedures; works with customers and management to determine operational and clinical needs and independently designs them for BEHR and its supporting ancillary systems; and provides support maintenance and enhancement within BEHR.

Requirements Capture and Documentation

  • Participate in interviews with all levels of OCFMH MHH stakeholders to change modify or fix existing BEHR systems to establish goals objectives and scope of requirements based on customers collaboration with colleagues and clinical users the position establishes target delivery dates/milestones; conceptualizes solutions; builds in the test environments; and upon agreement with stakeholders moves the solution to the production system and finalizes documentation. At each step or phase of the interview process the position documents all proposed changes and documents them for approval by all parties before production begins.
Other Automated Duties
  • As determined through research and inquiry the position independently builds queries against a variety of systems to investigate data quality issues or meet emergency analytic needs; and investigates and resolves ancillary automation issues that impact the functionality of the primary health systems per assignments from the supervisor. Requests for data extracts and analyses by customer groups including MHH and OCFMH senior managers will at times require the position to use a variety of computer programs including MS Access Excel Word and PowerPoint. The position may also provide independent automation support for legacy MS Access and SQL server databases and assist in end-user training as needed.

Experience Only:
Six (6) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position

OR

Education and Experience:
A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to six (6) years

  • A pre-employment background check will be conducted as part of the selection process (to include reference checks).

  • Travel May require in-state travel to downtown Denver CMHHIFL and CMHHIP.

  • Former State employees who were disciplinarily terminated or resigned in lieu of termination must (1) disclose that information on the application (2) provide an explanation why the prior termination or resignation should not disqualify the applicant from the current position (3) provide the employee number from the applicants prior State employment. Absent extraordinary circumstances prior disciplinary termination or resignation in lieu of termination and failure to provide this information will disqualify the applicant from future State employment with CDHS.
