Mechanical Engineer Sr As a Senior Engineer on the parcel team you will be responsible for design and layout of new projects. You will also be overseeing the design and layout of new projects for junior engineers. This includes taking responsibility for your and the junior engineers layout accuracy and detail as well as the accuracy of the associated equipment lists. You will be responsible for communicating project status to leadership and generating mitigation plans for project / schedule challenges. Duties/Responsibilities - Lead and oversee the layout and design of material handling projects focused on the parcel industry
- Ensure the strict adherence to the budget and schedule for multiple projects
- Ensure the accuracy of the drawings and BOMs associated with various projects
- Oversee the creation of PE / permit drawing packages to submit to local jurisdictions for permitting
- Train / on-board new engineers and co-ops
- Participate in design reviews for projects across the department and provide guidance on best application practices
- Lead a customer program by supporting junior engineers on small projects
Required Skills/ Abilities - Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Extensive knowledge with MS Office (Excel Word PowerPoint Outlook)
- Experienced knowledge of drafting software (AutoCAD) and ERP Systems (Netsuite preferred)
- Highly organized with a focus on schedule milestones and motivated to train fellow employees
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field
- 10 years of related experience preferably 5-7 years in the material handling industry including 2-3 years working on parcel projects.
Work Environment This is primarily a desk-based role requiring extended periods of sitting and computer use. While the role is mainly desk-based mobility within the office manufacturing facility and customer sites may be required for meetings and interactions with colleagues. Physical Requirements Required to stand walk and sit; talk and hear both in person and by telephone; use hands and fingers reach with hands and arms for the use of tools to assemble heavy equipment.
