- A bachelors degree in an environmental biological atmospheric chemical health nuclear or physical science field an engineering field a geography/geosciences field a natural resources field or in a statistics or quantitative methods field plus three years of experience in an environmental program nuclear energy or radiation protection program; Geographic Information Systems (GIS); an environmental analytical or research laboratory LIMS (Lab Integrated Management Systems) or laboratory auditing; OR
A masters degree in an environmental biological atmospheric chemical health nuclear or physical science field an engineering field a geography/geosciences field a natural resources field or in a statistics or quantitative methods field plus two years of experience in an environmental program nuclear energy or radiation protection program; Geographic Information Systems (GIS); an environmental analytical or research laboratory LIMS (Lab Integrated Management Systems) or laboratory auditing; OR
A doctorate in an environmental biological atmospheric chemical health nuclear or physical science field an engineering field a geography/geosciences field a natural resources field or in a statistics or quantitative methods field plus one year of experience in an environmental program nuclear energy or radiation protection program; Geographic Information Systems (GIS); an environmental analytical or research laboratory LIMS (Lab Integrated Management Systems) or laboratory auditing.
Supplemental qualifications: One year of scientific technical experience at or above the Environmental Scientist 3 level with at least two years of prior scientific technical environmental experience in field operations such as: conducting compliance inspections investigating and responding to complaints in the media specified (ie: water quality). These duties must have comprised 50% or more of assigned job duties. Job Specification

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
The incumbent of this position performs highly technical duties in the Southeast Regional Office located in New Orleans. Louisiana. Incumbent will plan and coordinate the inspection of major facilities and/or sources with recurring compliance problems and will participate in special inspection or sampling projects on a statewide basis as needed with primary emphasis on air quality.- Coordinates compliance inspections of major water sources related 10 the LPDES program
- Trains and provides guidance and oversight to Surveillance Division staff in the collection of ambient water quality data
- Serves as the technical expert on water quality for the region
- Serves as the data management expert for the region
- Coordinates special investigations of citizen complaints related to water quality issues especially those that are chronic and difficult to resolve
- Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Compensation: This position offers a Special Entrance Rate (SER) listed below. This is the minimum compensation that may be offered. The job title and salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
