Physician Sub-Investigator for Clinical Research (CNS Focus)
A leading clinical research organization is seeking a licensed physician to serve as a Sub-Investigator in support of late-phase industry-sponsored studies evaluating new therapies for psychiatric and neurological conditions. This position is based at our Greater Boston site and offers the opportunity to contribute to advancing treatments for central nervous system (CNS) disorders within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment.
Role Overview
As a Sub-Investigator you will partner with experienced Principal Investigators specializing in psychiatry and neurology to ensure participant safety conduct medical assessments and carry out study-specific procedures. This position involves significant patient interaction and provides the chance to directly influence the success of clinical trials and improve patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform medical evaluations safety assessments and document findings including review of adverse events (AEs) and serious adverse events (SAEs)
- Monitor clinical safety data (vital signs ECGs lab results etc.)
- Manage emerging medical issues and escalate to the PI when appropriate
- Conduct or oversee study-related medical procedures (e.g. physical exams neurological assessments psychiatric interviews infusions and subcutaneous injections)
- Support eligibility determinations by reviewing inclusion/exclusion criteria
- Provide input on concomitant medication use in accordance with study protocols
- Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation in compliance with GCP and regulatory requirements
- Participate in safety meetings site monitoring visits and regulatory inspections
- Collaborate with study staff to ensure smooth study conduct and support patient retention strategies
- Build positive relationships with participants to encourage engagement and adherence
Position Details
- Schedule: Full-time on-site MondayFriday standard daytime hours (occasional evenings; no regular weekend work)
- Location: Greater Boston area (on-site presence required)
- Travel: Minimal; occasional opportunities for conference attendance or cross-site support
Qualifications
- Medical degree (MD or DO) with active license in Massachusetts (background in internal medicine psychiatry neurology anesthesiology or related specialties welcomed)
- Strong interpersonal organizational and clinical assessment skills
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and manage diverse patient populations including older adults
- Familiarity with medical documentation practices and clinical safety monitoring
