Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for the technical design assistance planning implementation and the highest level of performance tuning and recovery procedures for mission critical enterprise systems. Serves as a technical expert in the area of system administration for complex operating systems. Recommends the redesign and configuration of operating systems and system applications. Investigates and analyzes feasibility of system requirements and develops system specifications. Identifies methods solutions and provides project leadership and management in order to provide a high level of service to the customers of the department.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administers the day-to-day operations of Duravant host computers by monitoring system performance configuration maintenance and repair. Ensures that records of system downtime and equipment inventory are properly maintained. Applies revisions to host system firmware and software. Works with vendors to assist support activities.
Performs troubleshooting as required: Leads problem-solving efforts often involving outside vendors and other support personnel and/or organizations.
Establishes maintains and manages users accounts. Installs modifies and maintains systems and utility software on server computer systems. Provides server support related to other software.
Works with the IT Project Manager and IT Leadership to establish guidelines and methods for the installation and management of the host computer operating systems disk arrays switches backups and other components.
Ensures high availability and acceptable levels of performance of mission critical host computer resources.
Works with the IT Project Manager and IT Leadership to develops procedure to maintain security and protect systems from unauthorized use acts of nature and user abuse.
Works with the IT Project Manager and IT Leadership to develop procedures and documentation for backup and restoration of host operating systems and host-based applications.
Performs helpdesk functions.
Manages computer host systems including hardware software and equipment such as air-conditioning system UPS (uninterrupted power system) and fire protection system.
Stays current with technological developments in systems administration technology and recommends ways for Duravant to take advantage of new technology.
Qualifications
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to communicate effectively in English
Associates degree in Computer Science or related discipline. Relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year for year basis.
Three years work experience in complex systems administration software and support.
Knowledge of: Windows Server 2012 R2 - 2019 Office 356 Meraki Switches and Firewalls backup appliances Server hardware (Nutanix/HP/Lenovo) Anti-virus platforms automation tasks. Experience with Epicor ERP is a plus.
Microsoft SQL is a plus
Knowledge of remote sharing applications like Kaseya VSA experience is a plus
Active Directory & GPO experience
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job the colleague is frequently required to sit stand walk talk or hear; uses hands to finger handle or touch objects or controls. On occasion the colleague may be required to climb and work in high places stoop bend or reach above the shoulders.
The incumbent must occasionally lift push or pull up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
