Carilion Womens is seeking OBGYN Hospitalists to join our growing and dynamic team at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center in Christiansburg Virginia one of seven hospitals in Carilion Clinics not-for-profit healthcare organization headquartered in Roanoke VA and serving nearly one million residents in Virginia. Carilion Womens is comprised of 33 physicians a talented group of Advanced Practice Providers and a growing Midwifery division. Virginias New River Valley region comprises the localities of Blacksburg Christiansburg and Radford. Carilion New River Valley Medical Center is a 146-bed acute-care medical center with excellent support staff and a medical staff of 280 physicians representing a broad range of specialists and a Level II Nursery. Assist with almost 1000 deliveries and 300 surgeries annually. Ground and air transportation is also available to Carilion Roanoke. Memorial Hospital with Level III Nursery and 60-bed NICU located in Roanoke.
Key Responsibilities: Provide comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic care and consultative services to patients on Labor and Delivery in the inpatient setting and in the Emergency Department; Conduct deliveries perform cesarean sections manage postpartum care and perform emergency gynecologic surgery (e.g. D&Cs laparoscopic surgery for ovarian torsion/ectopic pregnancy); Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including midwives nurses and pediatricians to ensure optimal patient outcomes; Educate and counsel patients regarding reproductive health prenatal care and family planning; Engage in resident and student teaching contributing to the academic mission of the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine.

Qualifications:
MD or DO degree with board certification or eligibility in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Eligibility for medical license to practice in Virginia.
Excellent clinical skills and a commitment to quality care.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced complex environment.
Previous experience as a hospitalist or in the provision of secondary/tertiary hospital-based womens healthcare is preferred.
