Pipefitter

What Youll Do

• Lays out installs and repairs a variety of piping systems including steam water air industrial gasses lubricants caustic acids and other corrosive chemicals.
• Works from drawings sketches field dimensions and oral instructions.
• Works with a number of different valves gauges gaskets packing materials and piping materials including stainless steel black iron galvanized copper PVC and glass.

What You Can Expect

Minimum Job Requirements

• Requires 5 year apprenticeship or 5 years in the pipe fitting trade.
• Must be familiar with industrial pipe bonding techniques including welding bolting threading compression soldering and gluing.
• A basic knowledge of standard building and sanitary codes is necessary. Must be able to wear protective equipment including respirator.
• Must satisfactorily complete all requirements.
• In addition the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A: (i.e. High School diploma; or a DOE O 426.2A alternative).

Notes

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.

Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph pursuant to 10CFR 709. Medical requirements may apply.
