About the Opportunity

The St Vincents Mental Health Allied Health Graduate Program (Social Work) is a 24-month fixed-term program designed to support new graduates to transition into practice and develop core mental health competencies.

As a graduate you will:

  • Complete rotations across adult and older adult services including inpatient units community teams and residential recovery settings.
  • Work as part of multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary teams delivering person-centred and recovery-oriented care.
  • Participate in reflective practice professional development mentoring and regular supervision.
  • Be supported by Social Work Clinical Educators and the Allied Health Early Careers Team.

This program is suited to passionate Social Workers who are committed to a career in public mental health and wish to contribute meaningfully to the lives of consumers families carers and supporters.

Classifications for this position:

Social Work Qualifying Masters- YC37

Social Work Bachelor- YC36

Key Requirements

To be considered you must:

  • Have completed a Bachelor or Masters in Social Work within the past 24 months and be available to commence by 17 November 2025.
  • Be eligible for AASW membership.
  • If qualified overseas provide an International Qualification Assessment via AASW.
  • Hold a current Victorian drivers licence.

We are seeking applicants who demonstrate:

  • A strong interest in public mental health practice.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • The ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Understanding of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022 MARAM and the Information Sharing Framework.
  • Awareness of the biopsychosocial issues impacting consumers and their supporters.
  • Commitment to professional development reflective practice and a growth mindset.
  • Computer literacy.

About St Vincents Mental Health

St Vincents Mental Health Service is an area-based public mental health service operating across the City of Yarra and City of Boroondara. We provide inpatient residential and community-based programs for adults and older adults experiencing acute and complex mental health issues.

Our multidisciplinary teams deliver a range of clinical and therapeutic interventions underpinned by recovery-focused person-centred care and a strong commitment to the SVHA values of Compassion Integrity Justice and Excellence.
