The Project Manager operates within PMO department of the organization working closely with business & operation teams project teams executive management and external vendors or partners (if applicable). They operate in a dynamic and fast-paced environment supporting product/distribution/operation/system-related projects. The Project Manager ensures alignment with the organizations strategic objectives financial policies regulatory compliance and best practices in project management.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist in business development such as proposals Request for Proposal (RFP) vendors proposal evaluation and selection develop cost estimates and obtain project budget approval whenever necessary.
- Work closely with project sponsors project owners cross-functional teams vendors and key project stakeholders to develop the project plan scope deliverables required resources work plan budget and timelines for selected projects.
- Coordinate project activities allocate resources and ensure adherence to project management methodologies and best practices
- Coordinate Go-Live Readiness Assessment and manage cutover activities.
- Manage the projects in accordance with Prudential project management policy and ensure projects are manage in accordance with local regulations.
- Participate in the steering committee (e.g. Project Steering Co.) to ensure executive management well informed of the project progress and address the risks and issues.
- Collaborate with stakeholders such as product & operation teams subject matter experts vendors and executive management to ensure clear communication alignment of project goals and successful delivery.
- Provide regular project updates presentations and status reports to project team and senior stakeholders.
- Participate in process improvement on productivity operational efficiencies and cost saving.
- Develop and manage realistic and comprehensive project plan to ensure efficient use of resources and effective use of budget.
- Identify and assess potential risks and issues that may impact project timelines financial outcomes or overall project success.
- Develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans to minimize project risks.
- Support PMO quality improvement initiatives and implementation.
- Set clear expectations provide feedback and support the professional development of team members.
Job Requirements
- Bachelors degree in computer science/IT/Business or any related discipline
- Minimum six (6) years working experience with minimum five (5) years industry experience in various project management product corporate / strategic / transformation projects or IT related projects.
- Proven experience (Minimum 2 years) as a Project Manager in Insurance / Financial Industry related projects demonstrating a good understanding of Insurance or financial management principles processes and systems is preferred.
- Strong overall project management skills including the ability to manage multiple projects (2-3 projects depending on the sizing) simultaneously prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Experience managing large to complex size projects (project value with RM2-3 million or above).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and mitigate project risks.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities with the capacity to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and present complex solution/ information to stakeholders at all levels including executive management.
- PMP/ Prince 2 certified is preferred.
- Dedicated team player with good leadership skills.
- Possess strong client management experience communication and people development skills.
- Strong hands-on experience in managing teams and project delivery.
- Excellent communication skills in English both oral & written.
