What are the responsibilities of the HR Manager Role at Rijk Zwaan USA Rijk Zwaans primary goal is to offer its employees a sustainable and pleasant job with excellent working conditions. The Human Resources department has a very active and supporting role in this. Within this position you will work closely with the Managing Director of HR/Finance and our international HR Team to support USA Managers Team Leads and colleagues with all HR topics. The emphasis is on cultivating a positive and caring team culture general HR Administration recruitment onboarding Learning and Development and HR Systems. Culture Cultivation: - Advise management and team leaders with selection of new colleagues who fit with our values and corporate culture.
- Advise managers and team leaders in all areas including absenteeism prevention employee growth conflict resolution open feedback remuneration and team development.
- Occasional travel to our different work locations in the US (Oregon Washington Florida)
- Reflect on relevant HR issues and how to communicate them within the organization.
- Participate in or lead HR projects.
General HR Administration - Process bi-weekly payroll and maintain payroll reports and reconciliations.
- Prepare and administrate annual employee rate sheets documenting annual increases and status changes.
- Monitor/manage time off tracking system and workflows with assistance of Administrative Specialist.
- Manage/Facilitate payroll and workmans comp related audits.
- Manage benefits administration; processing new hires and updates as needed with assistance of Administrative Specialist.
- Coordinate Workshops with our benefits and service providers to enhance employee awareness and knowledge of benefits offered.
- Draft employment related contracts.
- Maintain our HR Handbook and other HR Document updates and distribute changes.
- Manage Immigration related Visas (new and renewals)
- Facilitate executive and visitor agendas meetings and calendar coordination.
- Work closely with Managers Team Leads and Administrative Specialist with managing planning and coordination of employee events.
- Manage employee recognition programs and activities.
- Establish and maintain new hire files confirming completeness accuracy and compliance with employment laws and company policies.
- Efficiently process background checks requests for verification of employment unemployment claims and other employee or manager inquiries ensuring timely and accurate responses.
- Maintains location bulletin boards with required labor posters employee postings and general information.
- Manage fleet vehicle program with assistance of Administrative Specialist and Fleet Coordinator.
- Actively contribute to special projects leveraging HR expertise and providing valuable support as requested.
Recruitment - Coordinate with Managers and Team Leads to draft job descriptions post vacancies and track applicants using our ADP applicant tracking system.
- Manage our Website Careers page content and employer branding materials with assistance of IMS Support and Administrative Specialist.
- Proactively inform and engage candidates and actively involve colleagues in the recruiting process.
- Coordinate Career Fair registration and participation with assistance of Administrative Specialist.
- Maintain contacts with university career services and local recruitment and selection agencies.
Onboarding - Facilitate the entire onboarding checklist process and agenda for new hires ensuring a smooth transition.
- Ensure accurate and timely input of new employee data into our global and local HR Systems (AFAS).
- Manage all onboarding and/or offboarding HR checklist items ensuring compliance and completeness.
- Communicate proactively with Managers Team Leads colleagues and our Global HR Group in Holland to streamline the onboarding process for new hires creating a collaborative and efficient onboarding experience.
Learning and Development - Collaborate with Managers Team Leads and our Global HR Team to facilitate local training programs and education workshops to engage the Team covering topics such as Performance Management Leadership Development Change Management Conflict Resolution Communication Health and Wellness and Basic Employment Law etc.
- Actively monitor and promote course offerings through our Global Rijk Zwaan Academy ADP Learning and GoSkills Platforms and inform Managers and colleagues.
HRIS - Serve as our HR Systems expert ensuring data integrity optimizing system usage and providing ongoing support to users. (ADP HR Platform)
- Work with our IT Support Lead to research and deploy improved technology solutions (i.e. AI automation enhanced HR platform technologies) to existing HR systems and processes to optimize workflows and enhance efficiency.
- Manage local employee information in our Global HR System for accuracy and completeness. (AFAS)

In addition we will look for the following on your resume: - A degree in psychology or human resource management.
- A completed masters degree preferably in psychology or human resources management is a plus.
- At least 3 years of relevant work experience as an HR Specialist or similar positions.
- SHRM and/or HR related certifications are a plus
- Experience with ADP platform helpful
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 Tools
- Commitment to ongoing self-development and learning
- High level of professionalism and exceptional integrity and discretion
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Well-developed organizational skills and detail-orientation
