The Role
As Purchasing Manager you will oversee the end-to-end procurement process from identifying and qualifying suppliers to negotiating contracts optimising inventory levels and ensuring on-time delivery of quality goods and services. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong commercial acumen excellent negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain strong supplier partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify evaluate and onboard potential suppliers and sourcing options.
- Manage and direct the purchasing of all goods and services to meet operational requirements in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Lead sourcing activities including supplier research RFQs contract negotiation and price/delivery agreements.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key vendors.
- Track and report supplier KPIs including quality delivery and purchase price variance (PPV) in line with QP4 procedures and business metrics.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Planning Operations Programs Quality) to understand needs and expectations.
- Develop inventory control systems track replenishment and forecast demand to minimise excess stock.
- Assess supply chain risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Lead develop and train the purchasing team including recruitment and onboarding of new staff.
- Resolve escalated invoice queries.
Key Performance Indicators
- PPV cost savings (including product/service and logistics costs).
- Supply chain performance (SOTIF SRN process and quality metrics).
- Inventory management effectiveness (SIOP Week 3 performance).
What Were Looking For
- Proven experience as a Purchasing Manager or in a senior procurement role.
- Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
- Experience in inventory control demand forecasting and supply chain risk management.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills.
- Technical ability to read interpret and understand specifications and drawings to support procurement activities.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP experience beneficial).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of manufacturing/engineering environments preferred.
