Job Description
The Role
Pilot is seeking a Senior Product Designer to help shape the future of our product this role youll take ownership of key product areas collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering Product and Operations as well as design elegant user-centered solutions that solve real problems. Youll be instrumental in raising the quality of our design work and will contribute to both strategy and execution.
Our team is building products that solve meaningful problems for startups and small businesses every day: giving them real-time insights into the health of their business giving them close control and visibility into their books and providing tools for making strategic business and financial decisions that help them save or make money.
Pilots aim is to provide our customers with the same superpowers as large companies with full finance teams superpowers that include having a deep understanding of financial health of the business the machinery to constantly improve it and the predictive abilities to thoughtfully plan for the future. We do this at a fraction of the cost a large company would pay for this by delivering these capabilities through powerful software.
This is a hybrid position with the expectation to work in the San Francisco office on Mondays Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Partnership: Collaborate closely with Product Engineering and Operations leadership to drive product decisions and roadmap priorities.
- Lead End-to-End Design: Take ownership of the entire product design process ensuring seamless and delightful interactions across all touchpoints within your product and service areas.
- Execute Our Design System: Design within an established design system and contribute to the evolution of new design standards across Pilot
- Bridge Design and Execution: Deliver thoughtful solutions and detailed specs that are ready for implementation.
- Partner on Research-Driven Design Decisions: Collaborate with internal/external users to conduct interviews and gather data to inform design decisions as needed
- Uphold Design Excellence: Maintain unparalleled excellence in visual and interaction design encompassing information architecture visual hierarchy accessibility and thoughtful layout.
About You
Our ideal candidate is deeply curious highly analytical and genuinely team-oriented possessing the following essential qualifications and skills:
- Experience: 5 years of impactful experience in product/UX design or a related field.
- Domain Fit: Previous experience with accounting finance tax tools small business SaaS or a background in founding/designing within early-stage product environments is highly preferred.
- Product & Systems Thinking: Skilled at simplifying complex systems to achieve human-centric solutions that balance simplicity and functionality
- Design Craft: Strong attention to detail in information architecture visual hierarchy typography and layout.
- Business Acumen: You understand how exceptional design directly drives key product metrics elevates customer satisfaction and ultimately achieves impactful company outcomes.
- Soft Skills: You are inherently collaborative a natural communicator insatiably curious genuinely humbleand possess a natural talent for influencing effectively across diverse functions.

The base pay range target for the role seniority described in this job description is $182000 - $247000 in San Francisco CA. Final offer amounts depend on multiple factors such as candidate experience and expertise geographic location total compensation and market addition to cash pay full-time regular positions are eligible for equity 401(k) health benefits and other benefits; some of these benefits may be available for part-time or temporary positions.
