Join the City as a Media Services Technician!

The Office of the City Clerk is looking for candidates to fill a vacantMedia Services Technician II position in the Print Room at Honolulu Hale. This position serves as the lead communications technician with responsibility for the day-to-day activities involved in providing a variety of audio/visual and printing/duplicating services for the Office of the City Clerk as well as to the City Council and to various City commissions and administrative agencies.

What Youll Do
  • Oversee the activities involved in executing requests for printing/duplicating and audio/visual services for the Legislative branch and other agencies.
  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of Legislative Print Room equipment. Ensures that an adequate inventory of equipment supplies materials and parts is maintained.
  • Receive review prioritize and execute requests for services. Assess the scope of requests establishes workflow to meet deadlines and assigns tasks to the subordinate Media Services Technician I.
  • Transport set-up test and monitor audio visual and video conference systems for public meetings of the City Council its special committees task forces and legislative committees and assist with same for other City agencies as needed including meetings held after hours and in remote locations.
  • Operate public address systems projectors laptop and DVD players for presentations; and provide other related technical support services to enhance communications at public meetings of the City Council.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Special Work Requirements
  • Ability to use tact and diplomacy when working with Councilmembers staff agency heads and the general public.
  • Ability to coordinate and handle multi-media set-up and operation for public meetings as needed.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

At the time of application you must be a citizen national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from high school. Responsible work experience demonstrating the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Four years of clerical or technical experience two of which must have involved operating and maintaining a variety of audio and visual equipment.

Such experience must have demonstrated knowledge of:


Must also demonstrate the ability to:
  • read and understand schematic diagrams and technical drawings and instructions related to the configuration set-up and assembly of sound reinforcement systems;
  • determine the equipment needs for a variety of events/venues;
  • design the layout and configuration of sound equipment;
  • set up test operate adjust and troubleshoot sound recording and projection equipment in accordance with the acoustics and layout of an area;
  • monitor audio signals to detect quality deviations or malfunctions;
  • operate and make minor repairs to various duplicating machines;
  • plan assign and review the work of others;
  • give and follow oral and written instructions;
  • establish and maintain good working relationships with others; and
  • maintain files and keep records.
LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
Possession of an appropriate valid drivers license as required.
