About the Role
The Financial Analyst - Expenses is an integral part of Lathams Financial Accounting role will be responsible for providing financial and analytical support to the firm by monitoring firm expenditures ensuring that expenses are reasonable appropriate and in compliance with firm policies while also developing reports and metrics for analyzing data. This role will be located in ourGlobal Services Office in Downtown Los Angeles. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
Other key responsibilities include:
- Applying financial and analytical skills to create analyses and respond to various routine and ad hoc requests
- Reviewing and analyzing summary reports and source data to detect inconsistent or improper expense patterns while fully investigating potentially inappropriate expenditures by applying professional skepticism and judgment
- Preparing and presenting information regarding findings and following up with appropriate management to ensure proper resolution
- Creating detailed reports on findings based on investigation validation and documentation of work reviewed
- Processing and monitoring audit letter requests to ensure that deadlines are met and completed accurately and in line with expectations
- Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive confidential privileged financial and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains

- Exhibit well-developed and professional interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the firm
- Possess good communication skills both written and verbal
- Demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment with a customer service focus
And have:
- A bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field
- A minimum of three (3) years of work experience in external/internal auditing or financial analysis
- Experience developing analyses and producing reports
- Knowledge and proficiency in PC applications including Microsoft Excel Word PowerPoint and Access
