Infection Prevention - RN

The Infection Prevention Nurse 2 is responsible for the surveillance analysis and reporting ofhospital-associated infections. Performs as a consultant on infection risk assessments prevention and control strategies providing education and training and implementation of isolation protocols. Works closely with the Infection Prevention team regarding evidence-based implementation and monitoring of compliance with any new practice aimed at reducing the risk of acquiring healthcare associated infections and works collaboratively with the Employee Health Program to ensure the health of all team members. This position relies on the experience and certifiable knowledge of infection prevention and control to plan and accomplish goals perform a variety of tasks works under minimal supervision and leads/directs the work of others. Participates in the development and enforcement of effectual policies and procedures for the department and hospital ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies. Serves as a preceptor to newly hired Infection Preventionists.

1. Data Analysis & Reporting

1. Utilizes CDC/NHSN guidelines and definitions of healthcare acquired infections.
1. Development of reports and graphs presentation at appropriate committees.

2. Education & Training Staff

1. Provides education to patients team members visitors families physicians and community regarding infection prevention practices to improve.
2. Participates in development of educational programs patient safety and preventing/reducing infections risks.
3. Presents infection prevention material at hospital orientation unit based meetings and annual education fairs.
4. Assists Employee Health as needed.

3. Policies and Procedures

1. Reviews and researches policies and procedures annually to ensure current evidence based practices are utilized.
2. Participates with the education of staff for any changes in procedures or policies aimed at preventing infection.
3. Implement any new policies and procedures with collaboration from nursing leadership.

4. Compliance & Regulatory

1. Informs the appropriate organizations of any reportable diseases.
2. Acts as a liaison with hospital and medical staff patients and families.

5. Other Duties As Assigned

1. Evaluation of products and procedures aimed at improving patient care and/or reducing infections.
2. Serves as active committee member on specific hospital committees.

BSN 4 years related experience or

ASN/Diploma RN 5 years related experience.

Current BSN ASN or Diploma

RN License plus infection prevention certification
