Job Description

This is a long term sub position at Malden High School from September 2025 through November 2025

Overview of the Malden Public Schools:

The Malden Public Schools (MPS) is a richly diverse school district located within the Greater Boston area and accessible by the MBTA orange line train. Maldens student body comprises approximately 6800 students who represent 59 different countries and speak 67 different languages. We have 1 early learning center 5 K-8 schools and 1 high school. Responsibilities:

  • Provide consultative BCBA services for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
  • Develop materials and provide resources for and provide professional learning to administrators educators para-educators and parents/guardians in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Treatment and Education of Autistic and Related Communication Handicapped Children (TEACCH) and and/or other evidence-based methodologies related to addressing the needs of students with behavior difficulties and autism.
  • Plan and oversee the development and implementation of classroom and individual programs related to instruction using the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and TEACCH for students with autism and other disabilities.
  • Provide functional behavioral assessments for individual students.
  • Collect data and prepare a variety of reports for the purpose of documenting case history assessments and treatment decisions.
  • Create and assist District staff with the development and implementation of behavior plans ABA programs and other appropriate programs for students with Autism and/or other disabilities that present behavior/learning challenges.
  • Other Functions
  • Supervise BCBA candidates within the Malden Public School District as appropriate.
  • Supervise Registered Behavior Technicians within the Malden Public School District as needed.
  • Travel from site to site and/or performs necessary school visits for the purpose of providing direct treatment consultation and collaboration for students and families.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Licensed as a Special Educator Severe Disabilities preferred
  • Minimum of three years teaching experience preferred
  • Licensed as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst
  • Experience providing training to staff and parents
  • Advanced degree in special education or related field

Reports to: Assistant Superintendent of Student Services and/or Special Education Program Manager

Salary:

$135/Day - Retired Teacher w/ DESE Certification

$125/Day DESE Teaching Certification

$100/Day No Certification

If a substitute holds a Bachelors degree or a Teaching License and they serve in thesameassignment for a 30 consecutive work day probationary period they are eligible to have their pay rate increased to a per diem rate of $210/day for the remainder of their current assignment; pay returns to the daily rate at the conclusion of their assignment; however if they move to another long-term assignment within a month they do not have to restart the probationary period again and may continue receiving the per diem rate. Requests to move to the per diem rate at the end of probationary period must be made to and confirmation will be submitted to payroll.
