DEPT OF WATER RESOURCES

The mission of the Arizona Department of Water Resources (ADWR) is to safeguard the health safety and economic welfare of the public by protecting conserving and enhancing Arizonas water supplies in a bold thoughtful and innovative manner. We are seeking a Hydrogeologist 3 to join the Hydrology Division Field Services Section to join our team!

Thispositions primary purpose is to perform hydrologic fieldwork and is responsible for data collection in support of the Departments programs. Specifically groundwater level measurements stream flow measurements well discharge measurements plus the occasional assistance with the operation & maintenance downloading and uploading of transducer well data from well sites.

Responsibilitiesmay include but are not limited to:
  • Responsible for performing timely field investigation in accordance with ADWR guidelines and procedures. Measures groundwater levels in wells. Identifies and makes arrangements to measure water levels in wells and conduct well site inventories for inclusion into ADWR-GWSI database.
  • Enters measured water level data and related site data into the GWSI database and owner monitoring permission information into ADWRs databases. Contributes to the development and maintenance of GWSI and monitoring site files: updates well site data such as photos site and water use well location/maps pump/lift data MP information and datums log data well construction and other hydrologic parameters as needed.
  • Assists with the installation of automated groundwater level monitoring devices into wells. Includes well site preparation and installation of pressure transducers or other such automated monitoring devices GOES radios data loggers solar panels shelters voltage regulators etc. Visits automated well sites to download recorded water level data from data logger systems and operation and maintenance (O&M) as needed.
  • Responsible for calibration and maintaining records of data collection equipment such as electric sounders electric tapes steel tapes accordance with USGS Technical Procedures and ADWR standards.
  • Responsible for the timely preparation of reports/recommendations involving water resources management issues. Responsible for compiling analyzing and interpreting water data from a variety of sources and databases including field measurements calculations and observations and evaluation of historical records maps aerial photographs and remotely sensed data output.
  • Measures stream flows as directed. Measures discharges from pumping wells using appropriate equipment such as ultrasonic flow meter as directed to measure water well discharge rates for compliance and other hydrologic data collection purposes.
