Job Description
Founded in 1951 the National Board of Examiners in Optometryis an independent non-governmental non-profit organization whose examinations are universally accepted for optometric licensure in the United mission is to protect the public by developing administering scoring and reporting results of valid examinations that assess competence in has a full-time staff of 29 and utilizes over 200 optometrists as subject matter experts nationwide in support of its examination is one of the few national boards in any profession with a repertoire of exams that include computer-based tests an advanced competence exam and a performance exam using standardized patients at the National Center of Clinical Testing in work to maintain the best possible environment for our employees where people can learn and grow with the company. This role is an onsite position based in Charlotte NC.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies to promote brand awareness engage key audiences and support organizational goals.
- Write edit and manage content for press releases newsletters blogs website social media internal communications and executive messaging.
- Manage media relations including building relationships with journalists writing press materials and coordinating interviews or media events.
- Ensure brand consistency across all communications and marketing materials.
- Oversee the organizations digital presence including website content social media channels and email campaigns.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support campaigns events and other initiatives through strategic communication.
- Monitor analyze and report on the performance of communication efforts adjusting strategies as needed.
- Manage crisis communications and support executive leadership with key messaging during high-impact situations.
- Supervise or collaborate with design video or external agencies to produce multimedia content.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Public Relations Communications Marketing Journalism or relevant field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in communications
- Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written) interpersonal skills and ethical mindset
- Experience in web design and content production
- Quick learner and self-starter
- Sound judgement
- Detail-oriented and organized nature
- Ability to work independently while contributing to team environment
- Proficient command of English language
- Ability to write proofread and edit with proficiency and accuracy
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
