Job Summary:
The position is in Colorado Springs and will provide oversight and direct care for patients with neurological conditions in the outpatient and inpatient setting.
The duties and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:
Direct Patient Care
Manage outpatient visits for children with common neurological conditions such as headache concussion seizures/epilepsy developmental delay tics and neuromuscular disorders.
Following completion of outpatient onboarding and achievement of demonstrated competency begin rotation with other APPs to support inpatient consults and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit under the supervision of physician neurologists
Educate and counsel patients and families on neurologic conditions treatment plans medications and follow-up care.
Collaborate with supervising neurologists and the multidisciplinary care team to coordinate care and support smooth transitions between inpatient and outpatient settings.
Document encounters in the electronic medical record and contribute to teaching quality improvement and patient safety initiatives within the division.
Coordination and Collaboration
Coordinate care with primary care providers admitting providers and other subspecialists as necessary. Collaborate with clinical staff to optimize patient flow and clinic efficiency. Respond to clinical messages and patient portal inquiries in a timely manner.
Education and Quality Improvement
Educate families and caregivers on chronic disease self-management. Stay current with evolving guidelines and evidence-based practices. Participate in quality improvement initiatives. Attend and contribute to department meetings CME or case conferences when applicable

The Department of Pediatrics Section of Child Neurology is nationally recognized for providing outstanding consultation clinical care and surgery for children and adolescents with neurological News and World Report ranked this program as one of the top 10 programs in the nation. Clinical services include comprehensive evaluation and treatment of neurological disorders parent and patient education comprehensive neurological consultation services and inpatient and outpatient treatment. Across the section our physicians neuropsychiatrists researchers nurse practitioners and physician assistants are active in teaching scholarship advocacy and translational and clinical research in neurosciences that will lead to improved treatment options for patients with neurological conditions.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Instructor
Masters degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
Current board certification (FNP PNP CPNP PA)
Eligibility for licensure in the state of Colorado
Condition of Employment:
Must successfully pass a drug test through Childrens Hospital Colorado
Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check

Preferred Qualifications:
Previous Epic experience
Three or more years of RN experience supporting neurology care to pediatric patients across a broad range of conditions
One or more years of APP clinical experience providing outpatient neurology care to pediatric patients across a broad range of conditions
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of pediatric neurological conditions
Excellent communications skills with children families and referring providers
Strong interest in working with multidisciplinary teams and collaborating with primary care and pediatric subspecialists
Commitment to patient education family-centered care and evidence-based practice
Interest or experience in quality improvement
