Job Description

Whilst important our role has shifted to include providing work opportunities fostering and creating small enterprises supporting emerging businesses supporting Government objectives in essence assisting communities to plan for and RISE to the challenge of self-determination.

A day in the life of a ISEP Job Coach can include:

  • Successfully deliver the Indigenous Skills and Employment Program (ISEP) on behalf of Rise Ventures
  • Manage a caseload of participants who have vocational and non-vocational barriers to employment/study/health services
  • Understand the needs of local employers and labour markets
  • Monitor job search activity of participants
  • Identify jobs for participants and ensure they apply for and accept any suitable jobs for which they are eligible
  • Deliver group-based services including job search and training to participants focussing on job search and soft skills
  • Market individual participants to suitable employers and vacancies
  • Place participants into suitable sustainable employment
  • Provide post-placement support to participants to ensure the workplace is suitable for the participants
  • Attend various employment services recruitment forums and local secondary schools to provide information to staff and students about ISEP and support students who are exiting the school system to access ISEP Services
  • Engage with young people in the local community to attract eligible participants to the service.

Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated ability to assess disadvantaged participants and determine the most appropriate support service
  • Demonstrated record of success in delivering employment and or community/non-vocational services to clients
  • A formal qualification minimum bachelors degree in the Allied Health (e.g. Social Worker Psychology Community Welfare Counselling/Rehabilitation Councillor)
  • Well-developed organisational and time-management skills
  • Highly developed communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to operate within the guidelines of WH&S Privacy and Equal Opportunity Acts.

Please note this is a one-year Max Term contract.

Please note this role will have travel within Cairns and surrounding communities.

To be considered you must

  • Have full working rights in Australia
  • Have a current drivers licence and a comprehensively insured vehicle
  • Complete anAustralia History Criminal Check
  • Have a current Working with Children Check or willing to obtain a Working with Children Check before employment
  • Ability to work Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm
