The Mechanical Inspector will support our clients Quality Assurance & Construction Inspection Division across multiple projects within clients Capital Improvement Program.
*Candidates must possess a current ICC certification as Commercial Mechanical Inspector.
*Additional ICC certifications as Electrical and Plumbing Inspector is preferred.
*Must be able to provide Proof of Cal-OSHA 30 hr. training within the last 4 years prior to start.
*Must be able to work any assigned shift - day swing or night - as required to meet the contractors construction schedule.
Essential Job Duties
- Inspects the construction of a wide variety of airport improvements and utilities projects to ensure conformance to plans specifications contracts permits environmental documents agreements for work and may provide construction inspection support.
- Conduct comprehensive daily inspections of mechanical electrical and plumbing systems across building and terminal construction projects ensuring compliance with applicable codes and project specifications review and interpret construction documents including blueprints and shop drawings submittals RFIs and change orders.
- Demonstrates strong proficiency in preparing comprehensive daily inspection reports that clearly document the WHO WHAT WHEN WHERE and HOW of all observed construction activities ensuring accuracy clarity and accountability in tracking progress and identifying issues deficiencies or safety concerns in a timely manner.
- Verify contractor compliance with local and national electrical codes (e.g. NEC NFPA 70 70E 72) mechanical and plumbing codes and client-specific standards.
- Track and document time-and-material work field changes and job quantities
- Assist in validating contractor progress payment requests based on an approved schedule of values.
- Support special inspections and testing activities coordinating with engineers contractors and third-party agencies as needed.
Description
Perform inspections of Mechanical Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) installations including but not limited to:
- Domestic Water and Sewage Systems
- Venting fire sprinklers and gas piping
- HVAC systems (air handlers chillers boilers ductwork)
- Smoke Control Systems
- Mechanical ventilation and exhaust
- Fire and life safety integration (e.g. smoke dampers)
- Mechanical and plumbing shutdowns lockout / tagout procedures
- Commissioning and balancing reports
- Underground utilities and duct banks
- High-voltage switchgear and electrical panels
- Conduit racks conductors and grounding systems
- Interior and exterior lighting systems
- Fire life safety systems including smoke/heat detectors and FM-200 suppression systems
- Electrical shutdowns lockout/tagout procedures and breaker coordination
Inspect IT infrastructure installations such as:
- Low-voltage systems (voice/data security access control)
- Door card readers security cameras and public address (P.A.) systems
- Communication cabling and equipment rooms
Qualifications
Required Qualification:- Years of Experience/Education/Certificates/Training:
- Mechanical inspection staff shall have Three (3) years or more experience performing mechanical inspections for Building Construction
- High school diploma (or equivalent)
- Mechanical inspection staff possess a thorough knowledge of the materials and methods used in the installation of plumbing heating air conditioning and refrigeration installations
- Current ICC Certification as a Commercial Mechanical
- Proof of Cal-OSHA 30 hr. training within the last 4 years
- Fall protection and harness training
- Confined Space Entry Training
Hardware/Software Knowledge:
- Knowledge of Project Management Information Software used for inspection/document control (i.e. Microsoft Office Outlook Xcel Word PM Web Adobe Pro Bluebeam etc.)
- Computer proficiency to review and utilize electronic equipment for contract documents efficiently including change orders submittals RFIs and other inspection documents with minimal supervision
Wage Requirement
- Starting Salary range for this job is $135060.00 - $155320.00. The starting salary will be commensurate with skill education experience and working environment
