Cabin Crew Requirements for South Africans
Before you pack your bags and prepare to apply here are the essential requirements to become a cabin crew member:
- Positive Attitude & Team Spirit: You must enjoy working with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
- Education: Minimum qualification of Grade 12 (high school graduate).
- Language Skills: Fluency in English (both written and spoken) is essential. Speaking an additional language is a plus.
- Height Requirements: You need to be at least 160 cm tall and able to reach 212 cm on tiptoes. This ensures you can access all emergency equipment on different aircraft.
- No Visible Tattoos: Tattoos must not be visible while wearing the uniform (no covering with makeup or bandages allowed).
- Experience: At least one year of experience in hospitality or customer service.
In addition to these looks for individuals who are solution-oriented professional culturally aware and able to handle demanding work schedules while maintaining high standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
As a cabin crew member your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Welcoming passengers warmly and assisting with their needs.
- Conducting safety demonstrations and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
- Managing in-flight services including meals and beverages.
- Providing prompt and courteous service to passengers.
- Acting calmly and decisively in emergencies.
