Job Title: Major Donor Officer
Employment Type: Full-Time
Work Schedule: Monday Friday with flexibility for events and donor meetings; occasional evenings/weekends required
Position Overview
The Major Donor Officer (MDO) is responsible for cultivating and stewarding relationships with major donors including individuals corporate partners and faith-based organizations. This role manages a portfolio of high-value donors develops personalized engagement strategies and ensures increased and sustained giving to support the organization s mission.
Key Responsibilities
Major Donor Portfolio Management
Manage a portfolio of 80 120 major donors focusing on gifts of $5000 annually.
Develop and implement customized engagement strategies for each donor ensuring consistent touchpoints personalized communication and recognition.
Collaborate with leadership to set and achieve annual fundraising goals monitoring progress through key performance metrics.
Maintain accurate donor records and activity tracking in the CRM system.
Identify and cultivate new major donor prospects to expand revenue and reach.
Corporate & Organizational Partnerships
Develop and maintain relationships with corporate partners for sponsorships in-kind donations and employee engagement opportunities.
Foster connections with community and faith-based organizations to create mutually beneficial partnerships.
Represent the organization at corporate faith-based and community events to promote engagement and giving opportunities.
Donor Engagement & Stewardship
Plan and execute cultivation events donor meetings and site tours to showcase program impact.
Create compelling proposals impact reports and donor communications to inspire ongoing support.
Ensure timely and meaningful gift acknowledgments that reinforce donor relationships.
Collaboration & Team Support
Work closely with the Development and Communications teams to ensure consistent messaging and aligned fundraising strategies.
Share donor engagement updates and insights during team meetings.
Support broader fundraising and outreach initiatives as needed.
Requirements
Qualifications
Proven track record in major gifts fundraising securing contributions from individuals corporations and/or faith-based organizations.
Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to inspire diverse audiences.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Highly organized detail-oriented and able to manage multiple priorities.
Passion for advancing mission-driven work and making a positive impact.
Experience with CRM systems (Virtuous or similar) preferred.
Availability for occasional evening or weekend donor activities.
3 5 years of experience in development, with strong emphasis on Annual Fund strategy and direct mail campaigns.
Education
Bachelor s degree required.
