About the Role:
We re looking for a highly organized and detail-driven Payroll Specialist and HR Coordinator to join our team. The key objective of this role is to transition payroll from an outsourced provider to an in-house system building streamlined compliant and scalable processes. You ll also be responsible for managing employee benefits executing workers compensation administration ensuring state compliance with job postings handling general HR issues and supporting core HR initiatives including PTO tracking and employee handbook development.
What You ll Do:
- Lead the transition of payroll from a third-party provider to an internal system
- Process and manage payroll accurately and on schedule for all employees
- Administer employee benefit programs (health dental vision etc.)
- Ensure compliance with state job posting laws and labor regulations
- Manage and report on workers compensation claims coordinating with vendors and insurance providers
- Track and maintain PTO balances and leave records in compliance with company policies
- Develop and update employee handbooks and HR policies
- Respond to payroll and benefit inquiries from employees in a timely professional manner
- Generate payroll and HR-related reports; support audits and compliance reviews
- Stay informed on federal and state payroll/HR laws and recommend improvements
- Handle general human resource questions and issues such as ADA reasonable accommodations elevating to other resources as necessary
- Support development of company policies
- Coordinate resources for HR issues requiring higher level knowledge and skill including but not limited to ADA accommodations deemed unreasonable signoff of company policies employee relations staffing issues
Requirements
Qualifications:
- 5 years of payroll experience with a strong preference for candidates who have led or contributed to an in-house payroll transition
- 2 years of general HR experience
- Working knowledge of employee benefits PTO tracking and HR operations
- Experience with state-specific job posting compliance and workers compensation processes
- Proficiency with payroll and HR systems (e.g. ADP Paychex Gusto Workday etc.)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Associates or Bachelor s degree in Accounting HR Finance or a related field (or equivalent experience)
Nice to Have:
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC)
- Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Associate Professional in Human Resources (aPHR) or other Human Resource certification
- Experience with multi-state payroll
- Familiarity with employment law and best practices for HR documentation
Compensation: $65000-$85000

Qualifications / Educational Requirements Must have a high school diploma. Must have a valid driver s license. Skills / Experience Requirements At least two (2) years of chemical processing experience. Good Manufacturing Process and Good documentation experience are a plus. Must have good documentation and good communication skills.
