JOB DESCRIPTION:
The PMO Technical Specialists reside within the Cross Carline & Project Engineering Team with responsibility to ensure overall program level feasibility and target setting. A Technical Specialist directly supports the Vehicle Technical Manager throughout each vehicle development program.
The Technical Specialist brings cross-functional awareness and understanding of vehicle design and assembly processes. With this background the Technical Specialist functions as the eyes and ears of the program following up on any issues that may arise in a proto build and ensuring that the right project resources are brought to bear for a quick containment and resolution.
The Technical Specialist may be assigned to one or more vehicle programs based on the clients needs and the program status. A Technical Specialist may support the development of a specific vehicle or may support the development of common modules to be leveraged across several vehicles.
The Technical Specialist may perform any or all of these activities:
Coordinate as a Vehicle Technical Manager deputy
Manage the technical pillar (out of tech mfg quality cost)
Vehicle composition (core structure interchangeability)
Product/Process convergence (hard points in zone meetings)
Coordinate the creation and organization of Connections/Fasteners
Organize Connections/Fasteners meetings to coordinate the technical core teams activity and identify roadblocks
As owner of the Connections/Fasteners dashboard define with the Technical Manager the follow-up and final KPI (escalation to Project Manager)
Prepare and coordinate the Change Management meeting
Continuation of Change Management coordination multi-site coordination by sharing with the dedicated sites the modifications requested
Contribute to the quality convergence by synchronizing the part modifications with the project planning (batch of modifications)
Coordinate the Product/Process convergence & reactivity (mainly for Welding Painting and Assembly) as a Technical Manager deputy:
o Participation in modification batches organization on main topics based on Change Management information (break points part number change)
o Support defects solving coordination for main defects on Painting Welding and Assembly.
Coordinate the vehicle rework during the project:
o On used cars for vehicles produced from X2 with dedicated rework/upgrade workshops (performed by the team in charge of all mass production cars)
o On new cars for vehicles produced from batch method (XS) till SOP with rework/upgrade workshops (performed by the production site)
Interact with the Planning Manager and Planning Specialist to confirm the feasibility of the plan
Work with purchasing counterparts to track sourcing and understand status
Generate part numbers and specifications based on the defined vehicle structure and composition
Lead trial runs as needed to find issues or mitigate risks
Share with the dedicated sites the modifications requested
Minimum of a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Industrial Engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited university
Minimum of 3 years automotive industry experience at an OEM or large tier 1 in Product development engineering
Must be a highly motivated detail-oriented and self-directed process thinker
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Strong written and presentation skills are a must able to clearly present a story to technical or management audiences
Advanced skill level in using Excel and PowerPoint
Basic proficiency using CAD and PLM software
Ability to interface with all levels of management
Full Program Life-cycle Experience & PDP understanding including Launch experience
Experience in multiple vehicle domains (body chassis powertrain electronics etc.)
Manufacturing process fundamentals understanding
Ability to quickly learn the use of proprietary software
