Job Description
Our client an Am 200 law firm is seeking an associate attorney with 4 years of experience for its Corporate/Non-Profit Business Unit in the Birmingham MI or Detroit MI office.
This associate should have prior experience with corporate matters relating to tax-exempt entities and nonprofit organizations.
This associate will be responsible for representing clients through the life cycle of a nonprofit entity. Responsibilities include providing board governance advice legal entity formation analysis and filings template creation preparing and filing IRS exemption applications providing unrelated business taxable income advice drafting and negotiating contracts and state- and federal tax-specific research.
Experience with the making of charitable gifts and planned giving would be a positive but is not required. This associate will be client-facing and expected to interact well with clients and recognize and be responsive to client needs. Successful candidates must be detail-oriented and should possess a solid work ethic. Strong interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills are required. Strong academic credentials are essential.
All candidates must be currently licensed to practice law in the State of Michigan.
