About the Role
The Development Specialist I plays a key role in helping us grow and steward our donor community by supporting a variety of fundraising activities with a focus on peer-to-peer and endurance event campaigns. Reporting to the Director of Development you will manage a portfolio of annual donors support donor-led events and assist with identifying and cultivating corporate partnerships. This role offers the opportunity to work collaboratively across departments to engage donors execute creative campaigns and strengthen fundraising operations that advance NBDFs mission.
Key Responsibilities
Donor Stewardship & Relationship Management
- Manage a portfolio of annual donors ($1$999) including corporate foundation and individual supporters of NBDF events workplace giving and matching gifts.
- Assist in identifying cultivating soliciting and stewarding donors and prospects.
- Support year-round engagement including impact reporting and stewardship efforts.
- Serve as the main point of contact for donor inquiries providing timely support and platform troubleshooting.
Peer-to-Peer & Endurance Fundraising
- Support peer-to-peer and endurance event campaigns including fundraising page setup incentive fulfillment and social media coordination.
- Help expand NBDFs endurance fundraising program by increasing participation and fundraising levels and identifying new opportunities.
- Analyze event results and donor data to inform future campaign strategies.
Corporate & Foundation Support
- Assist with the development of proposals and stewardship reports for corporate and foundation partners.
- Conduct donor and prospect research to support the Vice President of Corporate Relations Director of Development and Development Specialist III.
- Help ensure accurate tracking of corporate activity and proposals in Raisers Edge and .
- Support matching gift and workplace giving programs including Double the Donation initiatives.
Operations Data & Event Logistics
- Help plan logistics for donor-facing events such as donor-led gatherings board-hosted fundraisers and engagement opportunities.
- Maintain accurate donor records in the CRM/database and assist with data cleanup projects.
- Collaborate across departments to support fundraising operations and campaign execution.
What You Bring
To qualify for this unique opportunity our ideal candidate should have the following skills education and experience:
- Bachelors degree OR equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a nonprofit organization or related experience; experience in health-based or rare disease fundraising is a plus.
- Experience with peer-to-peer fundraising endurance events Facebook fundraisers and/or other episodic campaigns.
- Familiarity with fundraising databases software and graphic design tools (e.g. Raisers Edge Donor Drive Qgiv Canva).
- Understanding of donor stewardship and cultivation principles and best practices.
- Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure resolve challenges and create solutions as needed.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple projects prioritizing effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a collaborative mindset.

Where You Will Work
This is a fully remote position open to candidates anywhere in the U.S. Applicants should be comfortable working Eastern Standard Time as part of a dispersed team communicating regularly via video conferencing and digital collaboration tools. This position requires limited domestic travel typically 25 times per year including for NBDFs signature in-person events such as the Bleeding Disorders Conference.

Compensation
We have carefully considered industry benchmarks the experience required for this position and internal salary comparisons to determine the appropriate salary range for this role. For this position NBDF has set a starting base salary range $56000$61000 and it is non-negotiable due to our companys commitment to maintaining internal pay equity. This approach ensures that we maintain a fair and consistent compensation structure across the organization.
