Job Description

As an Electrical Engineer you will play a pivotal role in designing analyzing and executing safe and reliable electrical systems for industrial commercial healthcare and government facilities. Youll ensure medium and low voltage electrical distribution systems are optimized safe and compliant with applicable codes and standardsall while supporting our mission of delivering high quality electrical services across the region.

 

Key Responsibilities:


 Electrical System Engineering: Develop protective relay settings control schematics and evaluate circuit breaker and fuse coordination. Evaluate protective device trip curves and develop test plans.
 Testing & Commissioning: Field testing of protective relays (electronic and electro mechanical styles) circuit breakers of all manufacturers switchgear switchboards MCCs Motors etc. Developing proper MOPs for customer projects.
 Compliance & Safety: Apply NFPA70E 70B and NEC to development of programs and recommendations for clients.
 Documentation & Reporting: Produce technical specifications design drawings cable termination diagrams and formal test reports.
Project Management: Collaborate with field service technicians (MV cable terminations switchgear startup) manage timelines coordinate with client stakeholders.
 Continuous Improvement: Evaluate aging electrical systems and propose life extension modernization or IoT monitoring enhancements.

 

JOB INFORMATION


Job Type: Hourly
Starting Salary: $35-$50/hr depending on skill set and experience
Hours Per Week: 40
Overtime: 10-20 hours/week paid at 1 and  rate.
Workweek: Schedule changes by project since we are working on customer locations and on their schedules work can change from days to nights and is not predictable.
Shifts: There is not shift work it is dependent on scope of work and customer site schedules.

Is there a shift premium Premium is paid for working beyond 40 hours in a week orworking on company recognized holidays. On company paid holidays Technicians receive 8 hours of paid time off.  If they happen to work on the holiday they will receive 1.5x pay rate and also still receive the 8 hours of pay.  
Extra days Extra days are often expected.
Weekends: Most weeks have weekend work
Payment Days: Fridays

Qualifications :

Experience required Yes
If yes what experience is required
2 years experience in electrical design power systems or field engineering.  Workingknowledge of medium voltage electrical equipment and testing protocols.  Familiarity withNFPA70E 70B NETA ATS/MTS and NEC standards.  Proficient with CAD and relaylogic documentation tools.  Strong analytical problem solving and communication skills.

Criminal Background Check Yes selected applicant must pass a CBC before departurefrom the place of recruitment to the place of employment. CBC will be conducted throughthe recruitment company.
Drug Test Yes Yes selected applicant must pass a DT before departure from the place ofrecruitment to the place of employment. The DT will be conducted through the recruitmentcompany.

English Level Requirement: Medium  advanced job duties require reading drawings schematics notes in drawings email correspondence on site conversations with customers.

Drivers license required: Yes must be able to get a South Carolinas drivers license. AnInternational Drivers Permit/license might be needed.

As field engineers/technicians work is 90% on customer sites and primarily in North Carolina and South Carolina. Occasionally work in other states but at this time that amounts to maybe 2-3 weeks out of the year. No international travel at this time. There will be a per diem or corporate credit card to cover traveling expenses.

 Passport: Your valid passport.

 Current Visa: Your valid TN visa.

 Proof of Legal Presence: This might include your I-94 which you can access online.

 Proof of Residency: Youll need documents showing your current physical address in South Carolina such as a lease agreement utility bill or bank statement.

 Social Security Card: Youll need to present your Social Security card.

 International Customers Checklist (SCDMV Form MV-94): This form is specifically forinternational customers and can be found on the SCDMV website.

 Visit an SCDMV Office: Locate your nearest SCDMV office and visit during their businesshours.

 Complete the Application: Fill out the drivers license application form.
Pass Required Tests: You will likely need to pass a vision screening and a knowledge test (rules of the road).

 Pay Fees: The SCDMV website has information about the fees for different types of licenses.

 Receive Your License: If you pass all requirements you will receive your South Carolina drivers license.

 

Education: Bachelors degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering or closely related field

Physical requirements: Job requires traveling to customer facilities climbing stairs ladders walking over uneven terrain lifting test equipment and materials typically no more than 50lbs.


Additional Information :

EQUIPMENT AND APPAREL

Company uniforms: Company provides proper PPE including flame resistant shirts/pants steel toe shoes. Typically one week supply of shirts and pants will be provided or allowanceprovided

Safety apparel: PPE will be provided allowance for work boots provided.

 

TRANSPORTATION EXPENSES TO PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT

Paid flight to Business Location: Flight to business location will be arranged by company.

Travel Food Expense Covered Yes a one time allowance will be provided

Transportation to and from Worksite: Yes employee will either have a company truck orbe transported by another employee. Employees will always have work vehicles available for work related travel. Gas included.

Health Insurance: benefits begin the 1st of the month after 30 days of hire. Medical dental vision accident hospital critical illness voluntary life short term disability. Familycoverage can be elected. Employer pays for 65% of employee only base medical plan. Paid Holidays: New Years Day July 4th Labor Day Thanksgiving Christmas Day. Yes immediately eligible.
Vacations / PTO: Normally get 2 weeks/year.

Housing options: Employer secures housing for 6 months and then worker has to secureown housing before this period expires.
