JOB OVERVIEW
Job Title: Emergency Medicine Physician
Job Type: Locum Tenens
Location: Byron GA
Service Setting: Emergency Department
Coverage Type: Clinical Only
Coverage Period: 11/3/2025 Open
Clinical Shift Schedule: Physician shifts 6a 6p 6p 6a; NP/PA shifts vary coverage 9a 1a
COVERAGE DATES
Minimum of 5 shifts required
Assignment expected for 6 months beginning November 2025 (ASAP start acceptable)
PATIENT INFORMATION
Patient Demographics: Adults and Pediatrics
Patient Volume/Census: 83 patients per day (annual volume 31758)
Admissions: 8.9%
Case Mix: Emergency medicine cases across trauma medical and surgical needs
EMS Percentage: 14.8%
FACILITY INFORMATION
Location: Byron and Milledgeville GA
ED Beds: 22 (including fast track)
Support Staff: MD and NP/PA team coverage (24 MD 23 NPPA staffing model)
Reason for Coverage: Supplemental coverage
PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE
Hospital Privileges Required: Yes
Temporary Privileges Available: Yes expedited temps possible
Credentialing Timeline: 60 90 days (expedited possible at credentialing meeting)
Immunizations: TB Flu N95 Fit Test required
Orientation: EMR/Orientation training required
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Contract Type: Daily OT after 12 hours; Weekly OT after 168 hours
Travel Lodging and Malpractice Insurance: Paid/covered within contracted rates
Additional Notes: Paid travel and lodging included
REQUIRED PROCEDURES
Emergency department procedures as standard for EM physicians (not specified)
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Licenses: Active state license required (credentialing may proceed while license processes)
Board: Accepts ABEM AOBEM ABFM ABIM ABPS AANC AANP ANCC
DEA: Required
Certifications: ACLS BLS ATLS PALS required
Experience: Emergency medicine residency-trained physicians and advanced practice providers
Other Qualifications: Minimum of 1 2 providers needed for coverage
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide direct emergency care to a patient volume of 83 per day
Deliver comprehensive evaluation treatment and stabilization of all presenting cases
Work within a staffing model of 24 MDs and 23 NP/PAs to provide 24/7 emergency coverage
Collaborate with EMS and hospital backup specialties as required
Participate in emergency department team functions including orientation and EMR documentation
