TD Securities (TDS) Technology supports a wide range of capital market products and services to corporate government and financial institution (FI) clients through Transaction Banking (TB) Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) and Global Markets (GM). The firm works with clients around the world focusing selectively and strategically on key global financial centers: Toronto Montreal Calgary Vancouver New York London Singapore and Tokyo.

Transaction Banking is a key growth business within TDS that provides the opportunity to make an impact with top tier organizations. We offer innovative solutions and treasury advisory services on large and complex liquidity payments and trade finance needs. The business constantly changes with macroeconomic conditions unprecedented levels of innovation interest rate environments and foreign exchange movements. As a result all GTB business lines continue to evolve to provide optimum trade finance liquidity and payment solutions to clients.

Transaction Banking is comprised of four business lines: Global Trade Finance (GTF) Corporate Cash Management (CCM) Financial Institutions (FI) and Export and Agency Finance (EAF).

Global Transaction Banking technology team focuses on delivering top tier technology solutions to enable and grow the global GTB business.

Job Summary:

As part of Value Creation Plan TD has embarked on a multi-year digital transformation of Transaction Banking in order to position the transaction bank as a leading North American multi-currency treasury provider enabling significant business growth across the TDS franchise. This role presents an opportunity to lead the build-out of the next-generation of GTBs transaction banking capabilities in order to (i) extend a highly successful GTB business into the US; and (ii) to future-proof business with a platform that can evolve at minimal cost as client and industry needs & expectations continue to evolve.

The Data Technology Director is a leadership role that requires extensive experience in Data engineering. The role primarily focuses on providing strategic direction and overseeing the delivery of Data technology solutions within TD Securities Corporate Banking businesses. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data driven architecture and strategy experience in large scale integration projects and leadership skills.

Responsibilities:

• Provide overall technology leadership and guidance for the delivery team.
• Develop and execute technology strategies to support the business goals of the organization.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their requirements and translate them into technology solutions.
• Define and maintain the technology roadmap aligning it with the overall IT strategy.
• Lead the architecture and design of complex and scalable solutions.
• Oversee the full software development life cycle including requirements gathering design development testing and deployment.
• Manage a team of developers architects and engineers providing technical guidance and mentoring.
• Ensure adherence to coding standards best practices and security guidelines.
• Collaborate with other technology teams and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of systems with other applications.
• Identify and evaluate emerging technologies and trends and make recommendations for adoption.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives optimizing processes and enhancing efficiency.
• Monitor project timelines budgets and resources and proactively address any deviations.
• Collaborate with vendors and external partners to leverage their expertise and deliver innovative solutions.
• Establish strong relationships with key stakeholders including business leaders product owners and senior executives.
• Stay up to date with industry developments regulatory changes and market trends related to technology.
• Champion the adoption of agile methodologies and promote a culture of innovation and collaboration within the team.
• Provide regular reports and updates to senior management on technology initiatives progress and challenges.

Required Skills:

• 15 years of engineering experience in Data driven projects which includes at least 5 years with leading the engineering team of 10 or more people in banking domain.
• Proven experience with building and delivering large scale distributed data processing and integration projects on Azure or GCP using modern data lakehouse data stores architecture and principles.
• Expertise in data technologies and frameworks preferably in Databricks Azure Data Factory ADLS Kafka Distributed data processing etc .
• Hands-on experience with API integration microservices development involving multiple systems and platforms.
• Demonstrated leadership skills including the ability to motivate and inspire teams.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities with a keen attention to detail.
• Experience in driving technology strategies and roadmaps aligned with business objectives.
• Knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in the industry.
• Familiarity with agile methodologies and experience in leading agile teams.
• Proven track record of delivering complex technology projects on time and within budget.
• Sound understanding of security principles and best practices in technology.

Education & Experience:

• Minimum Bachelors degree in Computer Science required
• 15 years related experience required
• Corporate Banking GTB Credit or Lending domain expertise required
• Demonstrated excellent management organizational and leadership skills required
• Proven ability to manage large and complex projects simultaneously required
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written required
• Technical knowledge of technology in capital markets required

The Director - Tech Solutions TDS Management builds and maintains strong business relationship with assigned clients / internal partners and provides direction and guidance on optimal technology solutions/services to meet business needs. The position generally manages a varied team of IT professionals and bridges the gap between the business and technology and leverages resources across functional or specialized technology areas to ensure end to end delivery of agreed upon solutions or services within planned forecasts / cost estimates. Role generally supports a significant Business area Product Group Enterprise Platform Service or Capability within a Segment CIO or Functional area.

Depth & Scope:

• Sets work direction at an operational level works autonomously in the management of the unit and collaborates with other business or technology leaders to establish and execute on common goals with a medium to longer term business perspective

• Sound knowledge of external competition emerging industry and/or market trends in relation to own business
• Integrator role that oversees various technology functions / resources to deliver business technical solutions or shared service
• Oversees a sizable and varied team of technology professionals (e.g. up to 50 consisting of Application Developers Solutions Designers Business Systems Analysts Specialists and/or Project Managers) in the end to end delivery of complex projects system enhancements / applications and/or application or service management
• Directs/manages large-scale applications/ projects across multiple product lines/ businesses involving significant scope and complexity
• Understands strategic direction (including financials) and champions alliances to benefit the Bank and/or department; advocates for operational improvements to enhance the divisions value to the organization
• Role typically reports to an Executive role

Education & Experience:

• Undergraduate degree or Technical Certificate.
• Graduate degree preferred.
