Job Purpose
The Demand Planner will be responsible for forecasting customer demand analyzing market trends and ensuring optimal stock levels for poultry products including feeds chicks and value-added poultry products. This role ensures alignment between sales production and distribution to
meet customer requirements while minimizing costs and wastage.
Key Responsibilities
1. Forecasting & Demand Planning
- Develop accurate short- medium- and long-term demand forecasts for poultry products based on historical data market trends and sales inputs.
- Regularly update demand forecasts in alignment with seasonal patterns (e.g. festive seasons agricultural cycles).
- Collaborate with sales marketing and production teams to refine forecasts and ensure alignment with business goals.
2. Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP)
- Participate in monthly S&OP meetings to align demand plans with production and supply capabilities.
- Recommend adjustments to production schedules and inventory strategies to balance supply and demand.
3. Inventory Management
- Monitor inventory levels for feeds chicks and other poultry products to avoid stock-outs or overstock situations.
- Work with warehouse and distribution teams to ensure timely stock replenishment and efficient dispatch planning.
4. Data Analysis & Reporting
- Analyze sales trends customer orders and market data to identify demand patterns and business opportunities.
- Prepare regular demand planning and performance reports for management.
5. Collaboration with Stakeholders
- Liaise with procurement to ensure timely sourcing of raw materials for poultry feed and other products.
- Coordinate with the production team to adjust output in line with forecast changes.
6. Process Improvement
Continuously review and enhance demand planning processes tools and systems to improve forecast accuracy and operational efficiency.
Requirements
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong analytical and numerical skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Proficiency in demand planning software ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor s degree in Supply Chain Management Business Administration Agribusiness or related field.
Minimum 7-10 years of experience in demand planning preferably in agribusiness poultry or FMCG sectors.
- Knowledge of poultry production cycles and agricultural market trends is an added advantage.
Working Conditions
- Based in Kampala with occasional visits to production sites and distribution hubs.
- Requires flexibility to respond to urgent supply chain adjustments during peak seasons.
