Job Description

Reporting to the Director Building Services the Manager Facilities Management is responsible of the safe effective and efficient operation and the comprehensive management of the physical facility of Etobicoke General Hospitals West Tower and the Etobicoke Wellness Centre in support of our mission to deliver innovative and compassionate care to our patients. An advocate for excellence in facilities management the Manager will leverage superlative cross-disciplinary communication skills to drive collaboration and alignment of our facilities management services in support of our clinical priorities and strategic objectives.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead facilities management operations for Etobicoke General Hospitals West Tower and Etobicoke Wellness Centre ensuring alignment with Oslers goals and standards
  • Oversee planning development and implementation of Facilities Management goals objectives and performance metrics
  • Act as the primary point of escalation for facilities management-related issues and concerns
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety requirements across all facility systems (e.g. mechanical electrical fire safety)
  • Manage and lead facilities management incident response and serve as 24/7 incident commander
  • Review assess and authorize facility shutdowns risk assessments and operational protocols
  • Monitor and ensure timely resolution of help desk tickets service requests BAS alarms and variation processes
  • Develop and manage the annual operating and capital resource plans for Facilities Management
  •  Engage with internal and external stakeholders to support clinical operations and project execution
  • Coordinate implementation of AODA requirements at assigned sites
  • Collaborate with Project Coordinator on lifecycle planning and replacement projects in accordance with contractual obligations
  • Drive continuous quality improvement initiatives and support accreditation readiness
  • Track and evaluate facilities management performance indicators; develop action plans for improvement
  • Manage departmental budgets approve expenditures and support cost-saving initiatives

Qualifications :

  • Undergraduate degree in building systems maintenance facilities maintenance/engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required
  • Project Management Professional certification preferred
  • Preferred membership with the Canadian Healthcare Engineering Society
  • Minimum three to five years of progressive management experience in maintenance and/or plant operations within a hospital or healthcare facility is required
  • Experience with P3 contract operations strongly preferred
  • Business management coursework is an asset
  • Strong strategic planning leadership and project management abilities
  • Ability to think and act strategically at both site and departmental levels
  • Sound knowledge of hospital structures policies procedures and decision-making processes
  • Proficiency in management principles and their day-to-day application
  • Working knowledge of quality improvement tools and techniques
  • Familiarity with computer maintenance management systems building automation systems fire systems and other facilities management software
  • Culturally sensitive with the ability to work within a multilingual and multicultural environment
  • High adaptability with proven change management capabilities
  • Strong analytical problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Excellent organizational time management and multitasking abilities
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders

Additional Information :

Hours: Currently days Monday to Friday (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements) on-call
