We are seeking(1) Personal Counselor to join the already awesome team taking them to the next level of excellence!
The GSU Counseling Center seeks an experienced and compassionate Personal Counselor to join Counseling Services. This dynamic position involves providing in-person and virtual individual and group counseling services and offering tailored therapeutic interventions to address a diverse range of student concerns. The Personal Counselor will also collaborate closely with fellow counselors and multidisciplinary teams. The Personal Counselor will contribute to fostering a supportive campus community and promoting psychological wellness and personal growth for all GSU students.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Direct Service: Provide short-term in-person and virtual counseling for students who request services or are referred by faculty or staff.
Documentation and Communication: Ensure accurate and comprehensive documentation within the electronic records database for all interactions and services provided. Facilitate clear and timely communication with stakeholders including referring faculty staff families and other relevant parties.
Emergency Coverage: Participate in rotation with the crisis team to provide support during after-hours and daytime emergencies.
Referral and Follow-Up: Collaborate with the clinical team to ensure timely and appropriate referrals for follow-up care for students.
Outreach and Training: Provide workshops and seminars for students and the campus community including training seminars.
Individual Consultation: Provide expert consultation to students seeking services offering guidance support and appropriate recommendations to address their mental health needs.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Experience providing mental health services to diverse populations.
Proficiency in electronic record-keeping systems and ability to maintain meticulous documentation.
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal to interact with various stakeholders effectively.
Knowledge of ethical and legal standards related to mental health practice and confidentiality.
