Job Description

DEFINITION OF POSITION: The Spirit Club Advisor will teach leadership skills assist students in organizing and leading school-wide events and accompany and supervise students in related activities.

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Building Assistant Principal

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Successful experience working with middle school age students
  • Commitment to the development and growth of student responsibility and citizenship
  • Clerical and computer skills for the keeping of data typing reports completing forms etc.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA degree in education and/or experience with school-aged children
  • Experience and/or appreciation of diverse student population
  • Current building employee

ESSENTIAL JOB-RELATED ACTIVITIES:

  • Work effectively with middle school age children
  • Work effectively with children with special needs
  • Take directions and follow through without direct supervision
  • Work positively respectfully and consistently with students in situations of discipline regardless of their challenges
  • Conduct weekly meetings with Spirit Club students
  • Supervise students during popcorn/candy sales once weekly
  • Work with Booster Club representative coordinating concessions and candy sales
  • Schedule and conduct extra meetings with students in preparation of and leading up to school-wide events
  • Create school year calendar with Spirit Club events and submit to supervisor prior to the beginning of school
  • Coordinate with students and facilitate school-wide activities including but not limited to spirit week(s) school-wide assemblies Turkey Trot Lincoln in Lights Spring Fling etc.
  • Possess and practice strong interpersonal skills with a wide variety of people both inside and outside the organization (staff parents community members other agencies etc.)
  • Be a positive team builder who works in a collaborative manner
  • Meet multiple demands in pressure situations and maintain high levels of quality work
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Communicate clearly both orally and in writing
  • Regularly demonstrate professionalism in appearance actions decisions and overall performance
  • Work with minimal supervision and be flexible
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

TERMS OF CONTRACT:

  • Salary: Stipend Position: $2298 - $2568 per school year
