Job Description:
The Senior Specialist Network Engineer (NE) performs technical planning system integration verification and validation and troubleshooting for total systems and or subsystems. The Sr. Specialist NE is part of a team that supports the requirements design development test and integration of complex specialized hardware/software systems installed on ground and airborne communication platforms.
Essential Functions:
- Assist in the design and development of physical and logical network architectures incorporating voice video and data capability across multiple security domains.
- Maintains networks (both LAN & WAN) connecting airborne and ground systems via terrestrial and BLOS (Beyond Line of Sight) circuits.
- Translate the voice of the customer into system level requirements.
- Perform requirement traceability methods and purpose.
- Assist and perform systems engineering trade studies.
- Evaluation of trade studies for accuracy and completeness.
- Write subsystem specifications based on system level requirements.
- Evaluate alternative solutions and establish preliminary system design.
- Review and evaluate diagrams to ensure design details trace to system requirements.
- Develop and execute network test procedures ensuring system performance and capabilities meet system requirements.
- Prepare effective presentations to communicate technical network information to non-technical professionals.
- Collaborate with multiple disciplines of engineering to design a cohesive creditable multiple security domain network and integrate the resulting design in a MILSTD based development environment.
- Intermediate knowledge and experience in network (LAN/WAN) design incorporating industry standard security best practices; NIST framework.
- Intermediate network engineering experience includes IP addressing switching and routing VLANs VPNs video teleconferencing VoIP telephony and LANs/WANs.
- Intermediate experience in routing protocols including RIP EGIRP OSPF and BGP.
- Certification and Accreditation process and implementation of systems that achieved an Authorization to Operate on government networks.
- DODAF knowledge.
- Configuration integration and troubleshooting of routers switches voice and video teleconferencing equipment.
- Excellent written oral and presentation communication skills.
- Developing authoring and implementing software and system test plans in a team environment.
- Working successfully both independently and in a team environment with the ability to lead small test teams through an entire building cycle.
- Excellent written oral communications skills.
- Willingness to travel up to 25%. (Domestically)
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree with four (4) years of prior hands-on experience with testing integrating and verifying software and/or hardware.
- Graduate Degree with two (2) years of prior hands-on experience with testing integrating and verifying software and/or hardware.
- In lieu of a degree minimum of eight (8) years of prior hands-on experience with testing integrating and verifying software and/or hardware.
- Must have an active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret with SCI.
- Must be a US Citizen.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Current Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification.
- Active Top Secret security clearance.
- Experience with Kubernetes deployment/administration.
- Experience with SATCOM solutions/protocols.
- Experience with HAIPE devices.
- RedHat Enterprise: Linux.
- Experience working with subcontractors and US Government customers.
- Assessment and Authorization (A&A) process and implementation of systems that achieved an Authorization to Operate (ATO) on government networks DODAF knowledge.
- Experience working government and/or military programs.
