Julie A. Goldberg is the founder and principal of Goldberg & Associates P.C. She is a nationally recognized trial and appellate attorney in complex federal litigation civil rights and immigration Ms. Goldberg is noted for rigorous legal analysis and unwavering integrity. Her notable matters include Guerra v. Shanahan 831 F.3d 59 (2d Cir. 2016); Hadwan v. U.S. Dept of State 340 F. Supp. 3d 351 (S.D.N.Y. 2018); a landmark habeas victory in Al-Sadeai v. U.S. Immigration & Customs Enft No. 3:19-cv-02081 (S.D. Cal. 2020)-followed by the governments dismissal of its Ninth Circuit appeal; and serving as counsel of record before the U.S. Supreme Court in Abdulla v. Garland No. 20-1167 (U.S. 2021). Position Summary

We seek a Removal Proceedings (EOIR) Paralegal with proven experience supporting active Master Calendar and Individual Hearing dockets in EOIR Immigration Courts and briefing schedules before the BIA. Under attorney supervision you will manage matters end-to-end: drafting formatting cite-checking e-filing and tracking motions (e.g. terminate suppress continue change venue bond reopen/reconsider) pre-hearing briefs and witness/exhibit lists with Bates pagination indexes and affidavits. You will navigate ECAS and BIA e-filing portals (including OCC eService where available) maintain proofs of service and ensure strict compliance with local standing orders filing conventions and page/size limits (OCR bookmarks PDF assembly). Record-building includes coordinating client declarations certified translations criminal dispositions FOIA productions and country-conditions evidence; preparing relief packages (asylum/withholding/CAT LPR and non-LPR cancellation adjustment before the IJ waivers); and organizing hearing binders. You will conduct targeted legal research using Lexis and Lexis AI (with human verification and Sherardizing) maintain deadline matrices for statutory/regulatory and court-ordered dates and document all work in the case-management system. The role requires impeccable document control proactive scheduling with clients interpreters experts and opposing counsel/agency contacts and clear timely communication across our multi-office team under the supervision and coordination of Removals and Head office attorney.

**All legal work is performed under the supervision of licensed attorneys.

Key Responsibilities

EOIR/BIA Litigation Support

  • Assist with legal research cite-check proof and assemble filings (e.g. motions to terminate change venue reopen/reconsider bond motions; briefs and exhibits for individual hearings and master calendars).
  • Prepare exhibit lists paginate/Bates-stamp index and tab evidence; ensure translations certifications and declarations meet evidentiary rules.
  • Manage ECAS (EOIR Courts & Appeals System) and BIA e-filing submissions; generate and maintain service proofs; track receipts and acceptance notices.
  • Calendar statutory regulatory and court-ordered deadlines; monitor changes and local operating procedures.

Record Building & Evidence Development

  • Coordinate collection of client declarations third-party affidavits criminal/court records medical/psychological evaluations and country-conditions reports.
  • Handle FOIA requests/status updates (USCIS/CBP/ICE/EOIR) and integrate productions into the record.
  • Prepare hearing binders and evidence packages

Research & Writing Support

  • Conduct targeted legal research (statutes regulations precedents) and country-conditions research; draft factual summaries issue outlines and cite tables.
  • Use Lexis AI and other vetted AI tools to accelerate research and drafting with human verification and citation integrity.

Client Communication & Case Management

  • Maintain consistent professional communications with clients; schedule pre-hearing preps and interpreter sessions; document all case activity in the CMS.
  • Coordinate with DHS/ICE OCC and courts regarding service and logistics (including remote appearances where permitted).
  • Support attorneys at hearings as directed (preparation logistics and post-hearing follow-up).

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2 years of immigration paralegal experience with direct EOIR and/or BIA docket responsibility.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with ECAS and BIA e-filing (including formatting PDF assembly and portal navigation).
  • Proven experience drafting and filing EOIR motions and BIA briefs/filings; comfort preparing exhibit lists and evidentiary packets.
  • Strong legal research skills including Lexis AI; ability to synthesize authorities and country-conditions evidence accurately.
  • Meticulous attention to detail; mastery of deadlines and high-volume task management.
  • Professional written and verbal communication; client-facing professionalism and discretion.
  • Technology: Microsoft 365 Google Workspace Adobe Acrobat (advanced PDF skills) and exposure to case-management software (e.g. LawLogix eImmigration Clio).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with DHS/ICE OCC eService (where applicable) and court/local operating procedures across multiple venues.
  • Bilingual (Spanish and/or Arabic strongly preferred; additional languages welcomed).
  • Prior use of structured AI workflows for cite extraction drafting checklists and deadline calculators (with human QC).

Work Schedule & Environment

On-site in our Los Angeles office; standard business hours (9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Pacific Time one hour lunch for 1pm to 2pm) with open availability for overtime as needed. Fast-paced deadline-driven environment where confidentiality and precision are mandatory.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Hourly Rate or Salary: $35 to $36 per hour overtime if hourly and discretionary bonus.
  • Benefits: $250 monthly healthcare stipend (taxable); dental/vision; PTO/paid holidays; 401(k).
