Job Description

Job Title: Controls / Design Engineer
Location: Westminster MD
Employment Type: Full-Time Direct hire

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Controls / Design Engineer to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with PLC design and programming and proficiency in AutoCAD 2D or AutoCAD for electrical and control system schematics. This role involves designing programming and troubleshooting control systems for automated machinery and industrial equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop electrical control systems and PLC-based automation solutions.
Create and update electrical schematics wiring diagrams panel layouts and bills of materials using AutoCAD 2D or AutoCAD.
Program test and debug PLCs (Allen-Bradley Siemens etc.) for new equipment and process improvements.
Collaborate with mechanical electrical and production teams to integrate control systems with equipment.
Support installation and commissioning of new control systems at customer or internal sites.
Troubleshoot control system issues and implement corrective actions.
Ensure designs comply with safety and industry standards.
Maintain documentation and version control of software and schematics.
Requirements:
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Controls Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
3 years of experience in controls engineering including PLC design and programming.
Proficiency with AutoCAD 2D or AutoCAD for electrical/control design.
Strong knowledge of industrial automation systems sensors HMIs and control panels.
Experience with control panel layout and wiring design.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with HMI design and SCADA systems.
Familiarity with NFPA 70/79 or IEC standards.
Experience in a manufacturing or industrial automation environment.
