Job Description

Our Team

Our Sustainability team specialises in helping client organisations to measure manage and reduce energy consumption carbon emissions and achieve wider sustainability aims. Our services include but are not limited to:

  • Delivery of city/regional carbon reduction programmes;
  • Development of carbon management strategies including Net Zero strategies;
  • Carbon footprint and greenhouse gas reporting and associated ESG disclosures;
  • Identification and assessment of energy saving opportunities and investment case support;
  • Green building certification assurance on real estate capital projects;
  • Estates decarbonisation plan and heat decarbonisation plans; and
  • Net Zero programme management and delivery.

Our specialist sustainable Cities & Workplaces team is growing in response to rising demand from private and public sector organisations. We are seeking individuals with experience and knowledge in building certification and/or real estate decarbonisation to boost our resources.

Job Description

We are seeking experienced and highly motivated professionals in Net Zero and sustainability to fulfil the role of Senior Consultant in our Sustainable Cities & Workplaces team a friendly inclusive and fast-growing team of sustainability consultants that supports clients with their transition to low-carbon sustainable future models.

Overview of the role

The successful candidate will deliver high-quality sustainability Net Zero and ESG consultancy advice. For this you will need experience and understanding of some of the following:

  • GHG Inventories: Prepare Greenhouse Gas (GHG) inventories for corporations cities and sectors in line with ISO 14064 and the GHG Protocol.
  • Decarbonisation Strategies: Develop and deploy tools for GHG baseline emission calculations and forecasting. Design and implement decarbonisation roadmaps with clearly defined targets and timelines aligned with SBTi and national climate goals.
  • Carbon Markets and Pricing: Provide technical expertise on carbon markets emissions trading schemes and voluntary carbon offsetting.
  • ESG and Sustainability Reporting: Support clients with ESG and sustainability reporting frameworks (e.g. CDP ISSB ESRS GRI CSRD SEC Climate Disclosure).
  • Climate Policy Analysis: Advise on regulatory and policy developments related to climate change including corporate climate disclosures Scope 3 emissions and carbon taxation

Qualifications :

We are looking to add a range of skills and experience to the team not necessarily all in the same individual including:

Essential

  • Suitably qualified in a related subject or appropriate industry experience;
  • Strong knowledge of climate-related regulatory frameworks such as TCFD ISSB IPCC reports ESG disclosure requirements GHG inventories lifecycle assessments (LCA) and corporate sustainability frameworks
  • Experience in developing ISO 14064 GHG inventories of scope 1 2 & 3 emissions
  • Ability to review analyse and benchmark GHG data and carbon emissions calculations in the built environment including use of international conversions and benchmarks;
  • Experience in developing decarbonisation strategies with costed pathways
  • Experience in carbon markets
  • Experience in climate policy analysis
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills - we believe in the use of quality data to drive objective decision making;
  • Enthusiasm for growing a team and business in a fast-moving environment;
  • Good commercial awareness including the ability to articulate business decisions within the wider context and market trends;
  • Attention to detail in service delivery communications and working with others;
  • Effective client and stakeholder relationship management experience;
  • Ability to play a key role in managing projects including client liaison team resource coordination and budget oversight;
  • Competent user of data management software (for example Excel) and systems for data cleansing management analytics and quality assurance;

 Desirable

  • Experience of line management;
  • Experience of business development including preparing proposals and inputting into competitive tenders;
  • Experience in a consulting or advisory role;
  • Knowledge of embodied or whole life carbon calculation or strategy on refurbishment and new build projects
  • Professional certifications such as ISO 14064 Lead Verifier CFA in ESG Investing or GARP SCR are advantageous.
  • Strategy/project delivery experience in the built environment
  • Experience of working with corporate clients FTSE companies or global businesses.
  • Experience with developing climate finance strategies including pathways for green investments and transition finance.
  • Experience in conduct climate risk modelling and scenario analysis including evaluating RCP/SSP scenarios stress testing and projection models.
  • Experience in financial and economic risk analysis and understanding the monetary impacts of climate risks
  • Experience in utilising Life Cycle Assessment tools to analyse embodied carbon in infrastructure and master planning projects.
