You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe Sewage Treatment Plant Operator is responsible for operating monitoring and maintaining equipment and processes at the sewage treatment facility to ensure efficient wastewater treatment in compliance with environmental regulations and safety standards.
Operation & Monitoring
Operate pumps blowers mixers valves and other plant equipment.
Monitor plant operations through SCADA systems meters gauges and laboratory tests.
Record operational data and prepare daily reports.
Maintenance & Housekeeping
Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on equipment.
Identify and report equipment malfunctions or breakdowns for repair.
Maintain cleanliness and safety of the plant premises.
Water Quality Control
Collect water and sludge samples for laboratory testing.
Monitor and adjust chemical dosing (e.g. chlorine coagulants) as required.
Ensure treated water meets regulatory quality standards.
Compliance & Safety
Follow all safety protocols wearing required PPE at all times.
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company policies.
Report any incidents safety hazards or non-compliance issues immediately.
Record Keeping & Reporting
Maintain accurate logs of plant operations maintenance activities and incidents.
Prepare and submit operational reports to the supervisor.
Emergency Response
Respond promptly to alarms breakdowns and emergency situations.
Implement contingency measures to minimize downtime and environmental impact.
Education: Diploma / Certificate in Wastewater Treatment Environmental Engineering Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related field.
Experience: Minimum 2 5 years of experience in operating sewage or wastewater treatment plants.
Skills & Knowledge:
Understanding of wastewater treatment processes (primary secondary tertiary).
Familiarity with pumps motors valves blowers and SCADA systems.
Ability to conduct basic laboratory tests for water quality.
Knowledge of safety procedures and environmental regulations.
Attention to detail and accuracy in monitoring operations.
Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Good communication and reporting skills.
Physically fit and able to work in varying environmental conditions.
