Job Description

Job Title: Lead HVAC Engineer
Location: Qatar
Department: Engineering / MEP Projects
Reports To: Project Manager / MEP Engineering Manager


Job Purpose

The Lead HVAC Engineer will be responsible for leading the design coordination and implementation of HVAC systems for projects ensuring compliance with design specifications industry standards and regulatory requirements. The role involves technical leadership project supervision and close coordination with multidisciplinary teams to deliver efficient and sustainable HVAC solutions.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Design & Technical Leadership

    • Lead the design and review of HVAC systems including load calculations ductwork piping and equipment selection.

    • Ensure designs comply with ASHRAE standards Qatar Civil Defense requirements and project specifications.

    • Approve detailed engineering drawings technical reports and material submittals.

  2. Project Coordination

    • Coordinate HVAC designs with architectural structural electrical and plumbing teams.

    • Work closely with consultants contractors and suppliers to ensure design intent is achieved.

    • Monitor and control project schedules budgets and deliverables.

  3. Site Supervision & Quality Control

    • Conduct site inspections to verify installation quality and adherence to approved drawings.

    • Resolve technical issues and provide engineering solutions during the construction phase.

    • Oversee testing commissioning and handover of HVAC systems.

  4. Compliance & Safety

    • Ensure compliance with MME/UPDA requirements local codes and environmental standards.

    • Promote energy-efficient and sustainable HVAC designs.

    • Follow and enforce health and safety protocols in all engineering and site activities.

  5. Documentation & Reporting

    • Prepare technical reports progress updates and final project documentation.

    • Maintain accurate records of all design changes approvals and site activities.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

  • Licenses & Certifications: MME/UPDA License (Mandatory).

  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years in a similar senior HVAC engineering role preferably in large-scale commercial industrial or infrastructure projects.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in HVAC design software such as HAP Carrier E20 AutoCAD and Revit MEP.

    • Strong understanding of ventilation chilled water DX systems VRF/VRV and air distribution systems.

    • Knowledge of international and local HVAC standards (ASHRAE SMACNA NFPA etc.).

Education/Experience/Background: High school or GED with the ability to read, write and comprehend English (operational, process, safety and quality instructions) and be able to carry out verbal and written instructions. Six months to two years of experience in a related position with experience in a similar environment preferred with ability to comprehend specifications, blueprints and manuals. Experience using material handling equipment, pressure gauges and precision measuring instruments. Experience using power, pneumatic, hydraulic and hand tools and shop tools such as drill press, band saw, bench grinder, torque wrench preferred. Other Requirements Valid QID Immediate Joining
