Job Description

The Sheppard Pratt School - Gaithersburg is a 12-month special education certificate program that provides educational services to students ages 12 to 21 with autism spectrum disorder pervasive developmental disorder (PDD) developmental delays severe behavioral problems multiple learning problems and other related disorders. The Teacher is responsible for the academic teaching and behavioral management of assigned students. The hired individual will demonstrate knowledge of age-specific student needs in instruction and create an appropriate learning environment in the classroom setting.

What to expect.

You will assess develop and implement behavior support plans for students with developmental disabilities and behavioral challenges.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing individualized intervention plans (BIPs).
  • Conducting functional behavior assessments (FBAs) and ongoing assessments to monitor progress.
  • Providing training and support to caregivers and staff on behavior management techniques and intervention strategies.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements and best practices.

What we need from you.

  • Masters degree in a related field of study.
  • Two years of behavior assessment and management experience.
  • For internal candidates: a bachelors degree plus 4 years of relevant experience (2 of which must be within SPHS) would be considered a substitute for a masters degree.
