Job Description

Position:Interim Controller
Location:Washington DC (Hybrid work model available)
Industry:Nonprofit (NFP)

Join a respected nonprofit organization in Washington DC as an Interim Controller for a short-term project of 3 months. This role is ideal for a hands-on financial expert who can independently manage accounting operations and support the organizations mission to improve public health initiatives.

Role Overview:

  • Manage and ensure the accuracy of financial statements.
  • Oversee the accounting system and financial reporting.
  • Develop and track the annual budget presenting to the board of directors.
  • Handle payroll production and vendor payment approvals.
  • Conduct tax and administrative filings with DC IRS and other jurisdictions.
  • Maintain banking relationships and manage bank accounts efficiently.
  • Act as a staff liaison to the Finance Committee.
  • Lead external audits and coordinate with the audit firm.

Desired Qualifications:

  • CPA designation is preferred.
  • Proven experience in nonprofit accounting and financial management.
  • Knowledge of Business Central is advantageous.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.

Compensation:$70-$75 per hour with potential for higher rates for exceptional candidates.
Note:This is a project-based role with no opportunity for conversion to full-time.
