Job Description
Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled 1:1 Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide individualized healthcare support to a 6th-grade student with significant medical needs. The student requires feeding tube management and spends most of the day in a wheelchair. This role will be based at the middle school campus of Abby Kelley Foster Charter Public School.
What you will do:
- Provide direct medical care and supervision for a specific student throughout the school day.
- Administer and monitor feeding via a feeding tube ensuring adherence to all medical protocols.
- Assist with mobility support and transfers as needed (student uses a wheelchair).
- Monitor the students vital signs safety and comfort during school activities.
- Implement medical instructions per the students care plan (to be shared at a later stage).
- Communicate effectively with school staff parents and healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care.
- Maintain accurate documentation of medical interventions and daily care logs.
- Ensure compliance with all state nursing regulations and school health policies.
What you will need:
- Active LPN license in the state of Massachusetts.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (Pediatric preferred).
- Experience with gastrostomy tube (G-tube) feeding and wheelchair-bound students strongly preferred.
- Previous experience as a school nurse or pediatric nurse is an advantage.
