The Deputy Sheriff performs law enforcement work to protect lives property and rights of citizens of the County. Work involves performing law enforcement or jail duties in a specific area of assignment. This position may serve civil process papers such as summons writs of possession foreclosures executions claim and delivery restraining orders; answer complaint calls and patrol the County in an official vehicle to deter crime or apprehend violators or suspects; serve warrants and make warrant arrests; and/or performing various procedures associated with transporting prisoners for the Sheriffs Department. Specific duties and responsibilities may vary according to areas of assignment. Employee is subject to the usual hazards of law enforcement work.
Examples of Duties
Enforces all the laws of the state and applicable federal laws.
Provides law enforcement services to residents and responds to service requests.
Prepares documentation and reports in a timely manner.
Regular and punctual attendance is required.
Monitor train passengers to ensure a safe secure and peaceful environment.
Respond to and de-escalate disturbances or conflicts among passengers.
Assist in emergencies (e.g. medical emergencies evacuations accidents).
Use surveillance systems to monitor the train and station areas for potential threats or hazards.
Maintain a visible presence throughout the train to deter crime or inappropriate behavior.
Ensure compliance with ticketing and fare collection policies.
Assist with ticket verification and check for valid travel passes.
Report any mechanical issues safety hazards or operational disruptions to the appropriate authorities.
Prepare incident reports and take necessary enforcement actions (arrests citations warnings).
Performs other related duties as required
Minimum Qualifications
High School graduation or GED.
CERTIFICATION AS A PEACE OFFICER IN THE STATE OF TEXAS REQUIRED.
Possession of a valid drivers license. Must be able to obtain a State of Texas drivers license within 90 days.
Must be a U.S. citizen.
