Job Summary:
A growing insurance services organization is seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to support its expanding operations. This role will report directly to the Controller and focus heavily on onboarding and supporting newly acquired agencies with a strong emphasis on agency management system processes and accounting functions. The ideal candidate thrives in a growth-focused fast-moving environment and enjoys leading teams through integrations and process improvements.
Essential Functions:
- Lead and mentor a team of staff accountants ensuring accuracy and efficiency in daily accounting operations.
- Oversee the accounting integration of newly acquired agencies including Applied Epic data entry and reconciliation general ledger work and bank reconciliations.
- Establish and maintain sound accounting policies and procedures that support a multi-entity growth-oriented business.
- Manage the month-end close process ensuring timely reporting in a complex and evolving environment.
- Partner with agency leadership external auditors financial institutions and other business partners to optimize relationships and processes.
- Provide ad hoc financial analysis and reporting in support of agency operations and management decision-making.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience within small to mid-sized multi-location businesses.
- Prior experience as an Accounting Manager Supervisor or Team Lead.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and develop a team of accounting professionals.
- Full general ledger and financial reporting responsibility in a prior role.
- Strong background in implementing and improving accounting policies and procedures.
- Hands-on experience with Applied Epic is required
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel with working knowledge of Word Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines.
- Must be based in the Greater Chicago area.
Compensation Package:
- $130k-$145k

- Onsite five days a week in Chicago IL
